Paris, oh Paris, even under a blanket of grey skies, you’re always enchanting. But let’s face it, we all crave sunshine, especially as summer is knocking on our doors. ☀️ So, when will the sun finally make its grand return to the City of Lights? We dive into the weather forecast to find out.
A Bit Gloomy in Paris 🌧️
As much as we love Parisian charm, let’s be honest, the weather isn’t always a dream come true. ☁️ Even during sunny seasons, we often find ourselves under a veil of grey skies. And with persistent rain, our desire for sunshine grows stronger.
The question on everyone’s lips is: when will the showers finally stop? ☔ We long for those delightful evenings spent on outdoor terraces, enjoying the warm glow of the sun, and strolling through the city’s charming streets.
Rainy Days and Sunny Hopes 🌦️
This June, the weather in Paris and northern France has been a bit of a rollercoaster. 🎢 Between showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, the sun has been hiding, just as summer is about to start. 😔 According to Météo-France, this gloomy period is set to continue early in the week, with thunderstorms even on the horizon.
A Peek of Sunshine, Then Back to Rain ☀️🌧️
Early in the week, temperatures will yo-yo between a chilly 15°C in the morning and a pleasant 26°C in the afternoon. The skies will be cloudy, with showers expected, especially in Paris, Normandy, and near the English Channel. 🌧️ But hold on, sunshine lovers! There’s a glimmer of hope.
From Wednesday onwards, the sun will make a brief appearance across the country, though thunderstorms are predicted on the Atlantic coast. 🌦️ Temperatures will fluctuate between 14°C and a warm 31°C. However, the first day of summer on Thursday will be disrupted by another round of rain, affecting the entire country.
The weekend is looking brighter, with sunny skies in most regions. There might be a few showers on Saturday afternoon in the Massif Central and eastern France. So, will summer finally settle in for good? Fingers crossed! 🤞
A Chilly June 🥶
Since mid-May, only eight days have seen temperatures above normal. 🌡️ According to Météo-France, temperatures were around 3 degrees below average on June 11, 12, and 13. In Paris, the first two weeks of June were the coolest since 2001.
Last week, a wave of polar air swept in, bringing cool and unsettled weather. A low-pressure system from Greenland settled over the British Isles, pushing high pressure away from the coast. While the situation is moderate, Météo-France explains that this is the cause of the current chilly weather.
A Gloomy Contrast 🌫️
The feeling of gloom is amplified by the contrast with the last few months of June, which were abnormally warm. In June 2023, the average temperature was +2.60°C above normal, compared to around -1°C this year.
There’s a ray of hope on the horizon, however. The Azores anticyclone could return from June 20, potentially bringing calmer and sunnier weather around June 23. ☀️ But it’s looking like June won’t be a scorcher, and temperatures will remain relatively cool for the season.
Fête de la Musique Under the Clouds? 🤔
The Fête de la Musique is just around the corner, and many Parisians are eagerly awaiting the exciting program of free concerts. But what’s the weather forecast for the evening of June 21? Will the celebrations be interrupted by thunderstorms or torrential rain? ☔
The weather report shows that we might need to keep our umbrellas handy.
Waiting for Sunshine ☀️
In conclusion, we’ll have to wait a little longer to bask in the sunshine. The forecasts show a gradual improvement, but the cool, unsettled weather is likely to hang around until the end of the month. But no matter what the weather throws our way, Paris always has something to offer.
So, while we’re waiting for the sun to return, here are some ideas to keep you entertained in the City of Lights, rain or shine. Enjoy the charming cafes, discover hidden museums, and explore the city’s captivating history. Paris has something for everyone! 🗼
