The Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris, welcomes nearly 7 million visitors annually. It is the ultimate Parisian landmark, a must-see for tourists and a beloved destination for locals alike.
Who hasn’t dreamed of ascending to the top of this iconic structure, famous throughout France, and gazing out at the sprawling cityscape? The Eiffel Tower experience is always special, whether it’s your first time or a return visit.
A Journey to the Top
From its base to its pinnacle, the “Iron Lady” offers a captivating journey. Shops, restaurants, and a champagne bar are all found at the foot of the tower.
You can climb the Eiffel Tower by lifts that take you to the first and second floors. To reach the third floor and the very top, you’ll switch to a different lift. Alternatively, you can choose to climb the stairs, taking in the tower from all angles. This strenuous but rewarding trek up the 704 steps rewards you with access to the second floor (the third floor is only accessible by elevator).
Stunning Views and Immersive Experiences
The first floor offers one of the most breathtaking and captivating experiences in Paris. Its transparent floor allows you to walk 57 meters above the ground, offering a unique sensation of floating above the void. A new immersive display transports you into the world of the Eiffel Tower, sharing its history and hidden aspects. There are also rest areas and a shop for taking a break and enjoying the uninterrupted Parisian panorama.
The second floor offers panoramic views of the city, making it the perfect spot for capturing unforgettable photos. This is also where you board the lift to the top.
Here, animated displays recount the construction of the Eiffel Tower and explain the workings of the old hydraulic elevators used until 1983. You’ll also learn about the current elevators. A glazed window on this floor provides a stunning view down to the ground, a unique perspective for capturing captivating pictures (if you can handle the height!).
The Summit: A Breathtaking View
At 276 meters above ground, the top of the Eiffel Tower offers an awe-inspiring vista of Paris and its landmarks.
Here, you’ll find a reconstruction of Gustave Eiffel’s office. This space is filled with realistic wax figures, including Gustave Eiffel and his daughter Claire, receiving a visit from the famous American inventor Thomas Edison. It displays, amongst other items, a phonograph Edison gifted to Eiffel. A model of the 1889 Eiffel Tower, built at a 1/50th scale and painted in the original “red brown” color, is also on display.
Finally, directional panels on the top of the tower help you identify major cities worldwide and their distances from Paris.
