Finding the perfect location was paramount in our quest for the ideal Parisian hotel. We wanted to be close to the iconic landmarks of the Vieux Cité without the hassle of renting a car. Our search led us to the charming arrondissements flanking the River Seine. We envisioned a hotel nestled somewhere between the majestic Arc de Triomphe and the vibrant Latin Quarter.
A breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower was a non-negotiable. As we scoured the internet for options, we discovered that the closer you are to the Eiffel Tower, the higher the price tag. However, we learned that a slightly further distance can offer equally stunning, if not better, views.
Hôtel la Comtesse Tour Eiffel emerged as the winner. Just a stone’s throw from Champ de Mars, the sprawling lawn that graces the Eiffel Tower, this hotel is a true gem. You can easily stroll to the iconic tower in just fifteen minutes.
While it’s strategically located near some of Paris’s most famous landmarks, the neighborhood doesn’t feel overrun by tourists. Instead, you’ll find yourself amidst locals, enjoying the rhythm of daily life.
Stepping into Parisian Elegance
Hôtel la Comtesse is a boutique hotel with just 40 rooms and suites, each exuding an elegant 18th-century charm. The hotel’s Hausmannian building, typical of Parisian architecture, boasts a distinctive wedge shape. The four rooms at the “bottom” of the V offer the most spectacular views, but they tend to book up quickly.
Stepping into the lobby is like entering a historic Parisian literary parlor. The beautiful frescoes on the ceiling are a feast for the eyes, and the inviting bookshelf is a treasure trove for French language enthusiasts. Settle into a comfy chair and watch the Parisian scene unfold outside the window.
The hotel’s La Comtesse Café offers a charming spot to relax. With windows on two sides and sidewalk seating, it’s a delightful place to soak up the Parisian atmosphere. The café even boasts a view of the Eiffel Tower!
Fitness facilities are located downstairs and include a small gym and a sauna. We wish we’d had more time to relax in the sauna during our chilly fall visit.
A Room with a View (and Comfort)
We opted for a Marquise Room, which is La Comtesse’s term for a “Superior Double” with a side view of the Eiffel Tower. Given the V-shaped building, a side view means you’re on either side of the V, offering a pleasant glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.
While we initially hoped for a full-frontal view, we quickly realized that the view isn’t crucial when you’re spending minimal time in your room. The room itself was small, but comfortable, adhering to typical European standards.
The bathroom, surprisingly, was spacious. However, it lacked counter space, a common issue in hotel bathrooms. The tiled bathroom featured an open shower, which, while modern, can lead to a slippery floor, especially in colder weather.
In-room amenities included a coffee maker, a safe large enough for a laptop, and cable TV. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring we always had fresh towels, toiletries, and coffee.
A Parisian Breakfast and More
The café serves a delightful breakfast buffet. From pastries, cheeses, and meats to yogurts and fresh fruit, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss the delicious hot croissants and the fantastic coffee machine. We loved the convenience of making our own coffee, choosing from espresso to tea, hot chocolate, and mocha lattes.
But the best part of our stay at Hôtel la Comtesse? Waking up every morning and enjoying a cappuccino at the café while admiring the Eiffel Tower. It was a quintessential Parisian experience we’ll cherish forever.

The staff at Hôtel la Comtesse was exceptional. From the first moment we arrived, everyone at the desk and café knew us and made us feel welcome. They were always helpful, friendly, and professional, greeting us with warm smiles and cheerful Bonjours.
The staff’s helpfulness extended beyond the hotel. They were eager to provide directions, recommend restaurants, and assist with transportation plans. Most staff members are fluent in English, and some even speak Spanish.
