Location, Location, Location: A Parisian Paradise
When choosing a hotel in Paris, location is paramount. We knew we wanted to avoid a car, experience the iconic sights of the Vieux Cité, and stay close to the River Seine. This led us to the Arrondissements, or neighborhoods, flanking the river. We dreamed of a hotel between the Arc de Triomphe and the Latin Quarter, with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.
And then, we found it – Hôtel la Comtesse Paris Tour Eiffel. This boutique hotel is perfectly situated just a block from the Champ de Mars, the sprawling park in front of the Eiffel Tower. You can easily stroll to the tower in just fifteen minutes, and many other famous landmarks are within walking distance. Despite its proximity to iconic attractions, the neighborhood itself felt authentically Parisian, with locals going about their daily routines, and charming cafes for observing the world.
Step Back in Time: A Parisian Literary Parlor
Hôtel la Comtesse is a boutique hotel with only 40 rooms and suites, each adorned with elegant 18th-century flair. The Hausmannian building is typical of Paris, with its wedge shape offering stunning views from the four rooms at the “bottom” of the V. These coveted rooms, however, tend to book up quickly.
Entering the lobby is like stepping into a historic Parisian literary parlor – a beautiful homage to the hotel’s inspiration. Admire the intricate frescoes on the ceiling, test your French with a book from the well-stocked bookshelf, and relax in a comfortable armchair, watching the Parisian life unfold outside the window.
More Than a Hotel: A Parisian Experience
Connected to the lobby is the La Comtesse Café, offering a charming setting with windows on two sides and sidewalk seating. The café boasts a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower, adding a touch of Parisian magic to every cup of coffee. Downstairs, a small gym and sauna offer a chance to unwind and stay active.
We chose to stay in a Marquise Room, the hotel’s term for a Superior Double with a side view of the Eiffel Tower. This means you’re on either side of the V-shaped building, enjoying a pleasant view but not a full frontal. Consider this: your time spent in the room is likely minimal, especially when exploring the wonders of Paris. So unless a full-frontal Eiffel Tower view is a non-negotiable, a side view is perfectly charming and saves you some money.
A Cozy Parisian Retreat
The room itself, while compact by American standards, was comfortable and true to European norms. Two small closets provided enough space for our belongings, and a queen-sized bed, one desk, and two small chairs filled the space. The bed, however, was incredibly comfortable, promising a restful night after a day of Parisian exploration.
The bathroom was spacious but lacked counter space, a common issue in many hotel bathrooms. The shower, while spacious, did tend to get a bit wet, especially in the cooler weather. However, the warm towel warmer was a welcome respite.
Amenities in the room included a coffee maker, a safe large enough for a laptop, and cable TV. The staff was exceptional at keeping us stocked with extra towels, toiletries, and coffee.
Start Your Day Parisian Style
The café serves a delicious breakfast, featuring a buffet of pastries, cheese, meats, yogurt, and fruit. Made-to-order eggs are also available, but we couldn’t resist the traditional hot croissants and the delightful coffee maker. The staff was happy to bring you a coffee, but we loved the freedom of making our own, brewing espresso, tea, hot chocolate, or a mocha latte – a little bit of Parisian luxury.
Unforgettable Parisian Moments
The most memorable moments of our Parisian stay weren’t just about exploring famous landmarks but about savoring the simple joys of Parisian life. Every morning, we would sit in the café, enjoying a Cappuccino while admiring the Eiffel Tower. This perfect Parisian morning ritual is something we’ll cherish forever.
The Heart of Parisian Hospitality
Beyond the charm of the hotel itself, the staff at Hôtel la Comtesse truly made our stay exceptional. From the first day, they greeted us with warmth and smiles, making us feel like valued guests. Their attentiveness, helpfulness, and professionalism created a welcoming atmosphere. Whether providing directions, recommending a restaurant, or assisting with travel plans, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and happiness.

Our stay at Hôtel la Comtesse was truly unforgettable. While some may find the room size a bit small, it’s a common feature in Paris. However, the hotel’s charm, location, amenities, and exceptional staff far outweighed any minor inconveniences.
