It’s time to pack your bags and head to France! But before you go, let’s make sure you have everything you need for a smooth and enjoyable trip.
Essential Travel Information
Passport and Visa: First things first, make sure your passport is valid! If you’re a British citizen, you’re good to go! No visa is required for your French vacation. However, if you’re from another country, be sure to check the latest entry requirements on the French Foreign Ministry website. You can also confirm with the French Embassy if needed.
Health and Safety: Staying healthy and safe while traveling is important. Visit the UK government’s website for essential health advice and any necessary vaccinations. Don’t forget to check out TravelHealthPro for more detailed health information. It’s a good idea to see your healthcare provider at least 8 weeks before your trip to get any recommended vaccinations or other preventative measures. And if you need medical attention while in France, remember to contact your insurance or medical assistance company right away.
Important Notes for Your Stay
Passport and Visa Changes: Keep in mind that passport, visa, and health requirements can change. It’s your responsibility to ensure you have valid travel documents and all the necessary vaccinations and health requirements. And don’t forget to purchase travel insurance!
Brexit and Your Passport
Heading to the EU? Make sure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from the date you arrive in the EU. You should also check the date your passport was renewed. If you renewed a 10-year passport before it expired, you might have extra months added to its validity. These extra months don’t count towards the six-month requirement.
If your passport doesn’t meet the criteria for third-country nationals, you could be denied entry into any of the Schengen area countries.
Don’t forget: There’s a helpful UK government website tool to check if your passport is valid under the new rules. You can also renew your passport online or visit a Post Office with the “Check and Send” service.
