Le Cinq, a Michelin-starred restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, is a culinary gem that draws us back time and time again. We had the pleasure of dining there on a recent trip to Paris, and as with our previous visit, we were blown away by the exquisite food and the impeccable service.
A Familiar and Delightful Setting
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and led to our plush banquette, which we recognized from our last visit. This time, we brought along our young son, and the banquette’s generous seating and cozy pillows proved to be a perfect spot for our family.
A Children’s Menu That’s Not Just Kid-Friendly
The Four Seasons George V Paris has a delightful children’s theme, “Les Triples au George V,” which features mischievous triplets as characters. Our son received a charming coloring book and colored pencils featuring these whimsical characters.
A Culinary Adventure
The lunch prix fixe menu at Le Cinq was a real treat, offering two choices each for the first course, main course, and dessert. We opted for a mix-and-match approach, sharing the various options, and we couldn’t resist the tempting offer of substituting the lamb shoulder from the Aveyron region for the prix fixe main course.
Amuse Bouches That Set the Stage
The amuse bouche presentations were a delightful prelude to the main courses. They included a fresh salmon bite, a melon mousse, glazed octopus, and a scallop adorned with diced tomatoes and cucumber.
A Bread Basket That Was a Star in Its Own Right
Le Cinq’s bread basket was filled with deliciously warm and crusty breads. I particularly enjoyed the buttery brioche, although I have to admit that the savory kugelhopf at Epicure remains my all-time favorite bread.
A Delightful Seafood First Course
Our first courses were absolutely stellar! My husband reveled in his Spider Crab course, while I was completely enchanted by my exceptional oyster first course, which came in three parts, two with ecume iodee, or sea foam, and also oysters on the half shell.
A Tableside Experience for the Lamb Shoulder
Our tableside presentation of the lamb shoulder was a highlight of the meal. It was both carved and plated tableside, creating a dramatic visual spectacle.
Sweet Endings
We opted to get our son his own dessert, a colorful quartet of a fresh baked madeleine, mini molten chocolate cake, granita with strawberry sorbet, and ice cream.
Le Cinq: A Paris Must-Visit
Le Cinq continues to be our favorite Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris. The service is impeccable, the amuse bouche presentations are a delight, and the seafood first courses are sublime. While I was wowed more by the tableside presentation of our main course than the dish itself, it was generous of them to allow us to select it as a substitution for the prix fixe menu entree choices.
