A Parisian Airport Oasis: Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle

Imagine this: You’re stuck at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris overnight. The city’s bustling energy calls to you, but the traffic and time constraints make it a fleeting dream. You need a comfortable, convenient, and, dare I say, spectacular place to rest your head. Enter the Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle, a hotel that offers the perfect blend of convenience, luxury, and breathtaking airport views.

A Room with a View: The King Executive Room Plus

As an avid traveler myself, I understand the frustration of flight delays and the desire for a comfortable overnight stay. This time, our return flights to Edinburgh were rescheduled, and we found ourselves with an unexpected stopover at Charles de Gaulle. Instead of battling Parisian traffic at the crack of dawn, we opted for a night at the Hilton. The King Executive Room Plus, freshly renovated in 2019, was our sanctuary. It wasn’t just a room; it was a window to the world of aviation.

For €172.96, we secured a night in the King Executive Room Plus. I recommend booking your room in advance through the Hilton app to snag a room like ours, room 811 – a north-facing haven with corner windows. It was our haven during a previous visit, and its stunning panoramic views drew us back.

A Welcoming Atmosphere and Stellar Service

From the moment we arrived at the Roissypole bus and train terminal, a short five-minute walk from the hotel, we felt welcomed. The entrance, with its single door for entry and a separate exit, led us into a cozy lobby where we were promptly checked-in. The friendly receptionist informed us that the Executive Lounge was open for coffee, offering a comfortable respite if we needed it. We were also given the option of enjoying a complimentary drink at the Skylight Bar, a delightful perk that softened the absence of the usual Happy Hour.

The Hilton’s CleanStay program, with its door stickers indicating room cleaning, was a reassuring touch. However, we were surprised to see no stickers on any of the doors we passed during our stay.

A Room Designed for Relaxation

The spacious room was a haven of comfort. The bathroom, designed for accessibility, was a full wet room with a shower, toilet, and sink. The Crabtree and Evelyn amenities and plush towels added a touch of luxury. The large, comfortable bed was perfect for a peaceful night’s sleep.

A View that Will Take Your Breath Away

But the real highlight was the view. Through the expansive windows, we enjoyed a panoramic vista of the North and Western complex of Charles de Gaulle. We could even see the iconic Air France Concorde, retired but still captivating. Watching the planes take off and land against the backdrop of La Défense, Paris’s business district, was a truly enchanting experience.

The Skylight Bar, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, offered a limited menu. However, with the abundance of food options at Terminal 2F, we decided to explore and ended up indulging in a satisfying meal at McDonald’s.

A Relaxing Escape

Back at the hotel, we enjoyed a relaxing evening in the Executive Lounge, catching up on the news and enjoying the comfortable atmosphere. The Skylight Bar offered a selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, perfect for unwinding after a long day. I particularly enjoyed the St Rieul beer, a crisp and refreshing brew.

As the sun set, we were mesmerized by the Eiffel Tower’s beam of light, rotating across the Parisian sky. It was a magical reminder of the city’s beauty, even from afar.

A Perfect Airport Stay

After a comfortable sleep, we woke up to a delicious breakfast buffet. The spread was satisfying, offering a variety of hot and cold options. The highlight of our morning was watching a majestic Air Tahiti Nui Dreamliner land on the northern runway and taxi past our window.

Checking out was a breeze, and the friendly receptionist confirmed what we already knew: Room 811 is a coveted haven, sought after by guests for its unparalleled views. With a bit of polish to the bar offerings, the Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle would be an unparalleled airport hotel.

If you find yourself with an unexpected layover at Charles de Gaulle, don’t settle for anything less than extraordinary. The Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle offers the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and spectacular views, making it the ideal oasis for weary travelers.
