Jet Lag Woes and a Packed Paris Itinerary

Oh boy, jet lag! It’s the bane of any traveler’s existence. I’m still haunted by the memory of my trip to England in 2019. I tried to sleep on the plane, but it was no use. After a long taxi ride from Heathrow Airport, I felt completely wiped out and ended up sleeping for 15 hours straight! It completely ruined our day, but luckily, we only had a few things planned. I definitely want to avoid that this time around!

Are there any tips for minimizing jet lag? I’m leaving from the EST zone and heading to Paris, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Parisian Adventures: A Photographic Odyssey

My Parisian adventure is jam-packed with exciting plans, starting with a leisurely stroll near the Eiffel Tower after I drop off my bags at my hotel in the Passy area. My goal is to capture the beauty of the city, from the iconic Eiffel Tower to the charming bridges and streets surrounding it. I plan to explore the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, the Champ de Mars, the Pont de L’Alma, and the Trocadero, all while snapping photos like a pro. Afterward, I’ll grab some delicious wine, cheese, bread, and fruit from the stands near my hotel, and then head back to my room for a much-needed nap.

Day 2: Street Photography and City Highlights

On Day 2, I’m hopping on a bus to the Arc de Triomphe, then heading toward the Moulin Rouge. I plan to wander down Rue Lepic to the Moulin Rade and explore the quaint streets in between. Alternatively, I might head to the Sacré-Coeur Basilica and work my way down the same streets to reach the Moulin Rouge. It’s going to be a day dedicated to capturing the vibrant energy of the city through street photography.

I’ll be venturing to the Wall of Love, taking a stroll down the Rue de Clichy, and then catching the #68 bus to the Square de la Trinité for more photo opportunities. I’ll continue my journey to the Rue de la Chaussée d’Antin, the Chaussée d’Antin La Fayette, and the Place Jacques Rouche. My final destination for the day will be the Palais Garnier, where I’ll catch a bus back to my hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 3: Exploring Marais and the Seine

Day 3 is all about the Marais district! I’m planning a taxi ride to the heart of this vibrant neighborhood, followed by a relaxing bike ride on an electric bicycle (I’m all about efficiency). I’ll be snapping photos of the Rue Cremieux, the Pont Marie, the Pont Louis-Philippe, and the Hôtel de Ville. Then, I’ll cross the Pont d’Arcole for a unique perspective of the Seine, before continuing on to Notre Dame Cathedral. I’ll be wandering through the charming streets and shops of the Île de la Cité before heading to the Pont Neuf, the iconic bridge adorned with love locks. I’ll soak in the beauty of the island for a bit before cycling back to my hotel area, ready to rest after a full day of exploration.

Day 4: Art and History in the Louvre and Royal Palace

Day 4 promises a deep dive into art and history. I’ll be visiting the Louvre Museum, home to iconic masterpieces like the Mona Lisa, and then taking a journey back in time at the Royal Palace. In the evening, I’m planning a night tour with a classic 2CV car, a truly unique way to experience the magic of Paris after dark.

Day 5: Catacombs, Gardens, and Farewell to Paris

Day 5 will be filled with contrast – a visit to the fascinating Catacombs, followed by a leisurely lunch in Montparnasse. Afterward, I’ll explore the tranquil Luxembourg Gardens and the Pantheon, two of Paris’ most beautiful green spaces.

In the evening, I’ll enjoy a relaxing river cruise before heading to London the next morning. I can’t check into my hotel until 3 p.m., so I’ll be spending some time at the Gare du Nord before boarding the train. While I’m not too interested in the Champs-Élysées, I might squeeze in a quick visit before one of my evening tours, as my 2CV tour will take me there for photos.

With this jam-packed itinerary, I’m sure to have a fantastic time in Paris. And I’m determined to beat jet lag this time around! Do you have any tips for minimizing jet lag?
