Are you a traveler who loves finding unique and charming places to stay? Then you’re in the right place! Today, we’re sharing a truly special experience: we slept in a Parisian grocery store!
Not just any grocery store, but a traditional épicerie transformed into a luxurious hotel suite thanks to the Paris Boutik hotel concept. This is a romantic getaway you won’t soon forget, and we’re excited to tell you all about it!

The Paris Boutik Experience
The Paris Boutik concept is all about offering “suites urbaines”, or beautiful luxury suites housed in uniquely converted spaces throughout Paris.
The suite we stayed in was a charming traditional Parisian grocery store, or épicerie. The lovely owners of Paris Boutik welcomed us with a complimentary bottle of Champagne to enjoy in our grocery store suite (more on that later!), and they also provided a helpful guide to Paris with fantastic recommendations for restaurants, activities, and more.
Stepping Inside the Grocery Store Suite
Stepping into the suite, you’re greeted by a gorgeous open space, a loft-style duplex with elegance and charm. The ground floor features a spacious salon and a compact, open kitchen, making it hard to believe this was once a real Parisian grocery store!
Downstairs, you’ll find a luxurious bedroom with a super-comfy bed and a heavenly bathroom complete with a deluxe tub (something I’m always excited about!).
Right in front of you as you enter are gorgeous shelves filled with classic French brands, bringing back nostalgic memories for those who grew up in France or, like me, spent time there as a child. It’s a journey through French culinary history with tins of cookies, conserves, salted caramels, mustards, and sauces – all brands that the French cherish. Hugo was filled with nostalgia as he browsed the products all around us.
Location, Location, Location
The épicerie suite is located in the 12th arrondissement, just a two-minute walk from the Gare de Lyon, a five-minute walk from our favorite Parisian market, the Marché d’Aligre, and a ten-minute walk from Bastille.
If you book this beautiful suite, make sure you visit the Marché d’Aligre early in the morning for white wine and oysters. It’s one of our favorite Parisian experiences, and we do it regularly! It’s become a Sunday morning tradition for us.
A Romantic Retreat
We believe this unique suite is perfect for couples, and here’s why:
Everything about this suite is romantic. The lounge-like atmosphere invites you to cuddle on the couch, the sweet table and chairs are perfect for enjoying croissants and coffee with your love, the gorgeous tub begs you to soak in its luxurious embrace, and the comfy bed is the ideal spot for late-night conversations.
On our stay, it was pouring rain outside, but we had so much fun exploring the area and were thrilled to have a cozy retreat to come back to and enjoy a cuddly evening in.
On our way back to the suite, we stopped at a local sushi place and grabbed a feast of Japanese food – sushi, maki, chirashi, and our current obsession, green ice cream mocha! We came back to our home away from home to watch TV, munch on our takeout, and sip the delicious Champagne that had been generously gifted to us. It was a truly perfect evening.
