Welcome aboard! Air France has a new way to showcase its love for France. Since 2019, they’ve been giving their aircraft special names, each one paying homage to a different French city. This time, they’ve named a new aircraft “Paris,” a proud tribute to the city that’s both Air France’s main hub and one of its most popular destinations.
Soaring with Paris
Air France flies to nearly 200 destinations worldwide, with over 1,000 flights daily from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly. With a fleet of 256 aircraft, Air France is a major player in the aviation industry, and a vital part of the French economy. The naming of the “Paris” aircraft comes just before the Paris 2024 Games, a symbolic gesture celebrating the dedication of Air France’s 39,000 employees who have worked hard to support the event.
Did you know? Air France will transport more than 20% of the athletes participating in the Games, including 15% of Olympic athletes, 35% of Paralympic athletes, and 13% of members of the Olympic and Paralympic family. This summer, they expect to carry up to 125,000 passengers each day!
Air France: A Legacy of Olympic Pride
This isn’t the first time Air France has shown their support for the Olympics. Back in 2016, they adorned an aircraft with the Paris 2024 bid logo, showcasing a stylized Eiffel Tower with the number 24. And in 2021, they flew the Olympic flag back to Paris from Japan after the Tokyo 2020 Games.
A symbol of Paris’s Olympic journey, Air France is a proud partner for the Games!
The “Paris” Aircraft: Modern and Sustainable
The “Paris” aircraft is a marvel of modern technology. It boasts 48 Business seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, and 212 Economy seats, ready to take passengers to destinations around the world, including New York, Santiago de Chile, Hong Kong, and Antananarivo (Madagascar).
This aircraft is also committed to sustainability. It features a new-generation design that reduces CO2 emissions by 25% compared to older models, while also making 40% less noise. Air France has ambitious goals for the future, aiming to have 70% of its fleet made up of these latest-generation aircraft by 2030.
