Planning a trip to France? We’ve got you covered! This guide will walk you through the essentials to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.
Passport & Visa Requirements
Before you pack your bags, make sure you have a valid passport. If you’re a British citizen, you won’t need a visa to enter France. However, if you’re a citizen of another country, double-check the current entry requirements on the website of the French Foreign Ministry and confirm with the French Embassy, if necessary.
Health & Safety
For the latest information on health advice and vaccinations, visit the official websites of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and TravelHealthPro. Remember to consult your doctor at least 8 weeks before your trip if any vaccinations or preventive measures are recommended. In case of a medical emergency, contact your insurance or medical assistance company immediately.
Important Note: It is your responsibility to ensure you have all necessary travel documents, including a valid passport, any required visas, and proper vaccinations, as well as adequate travel insurance.
Navigating Brexit: Passport Rules for EU Travel
Brexit has changed the rules for travel to the EU. The UK government recommends that your passport has at least six months remaining on the date of your arrival in an EU country.
Passport Renewal:
If you renewed a 10-year adult passport before it expired, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. These additional months, beyond the 10 years, do not count towards the required 6 months remaining.
Check Your Passport: The UK government has a website tool to help you verify your passport’s validity under these new rules. You can also renew your passport online or at a Post Office using the Check and Send service.
Important Note: Failure to meet these passport requirements could result in being denied entry to any of the Schengen area countries.
