Planning Your Eiffel Tower Visit: Tips for a Safe and Enjoyable Experience

Welcome to the iconic Eiffel Tower! This guide provides essential information and tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. We’ll cover everything from acceptable luggage and strollers to personal belongings and taking photos.

Planning Your Eiffel Tower Visit: Tips for a Safe and Enjoyable Experience

Security Measures and Prohibited Items

Safety comes first! The Eiffel Tower, like all French public facilities, employs strict security measures. These measures are reinforced by the “Vigipirate” plan which currently mandates increased security due to potential threats.

All visitors, whether they purchase tickets in advance or on-site, must undergo two security checks: one at the entrance to the site and another before entering the pillar to access the elevators or stairs.

For safety reasons, several items are strictly forbidden inside the tower. These include any object that could endanger people, facilities, or the monument itself. Be sure to carefully check your bags and avoid bringing items like Swiss army knives, which are considered weapons. Our security team cannot make exceptions or store prohibited items during your visit.

Luggage, Strollers, and Personal Belongings

Planning your visit in advance is key! Many visitors want to maximize their time in Paris, perhaps visiting the Eiffel Tower on their departure day. However, large luggage is not permitted within the tower for safety reasons. There are no luggage lockers, storage, or cloakrooms available at the Eiffel Tower. A luggage sizer is provided at the security checks for guidance.

Family-friendly experiences abound! Visiting the Eiffel Tower with children is a memorable experience. Folding strollers are permitted, but non-folding strollers, scooters, and bicycles are not allowed. If your children use roller blades or skates, they must be stored in a bag and cannot be used during your visit.

Keeping your belongings safe: Never leave your bags or strollers unattended. Abandoned items trigger security protocols that can lead to perimeter lockdowns, floor evacuations, and even bomb disposal services.

Lost something? Don’t fret! If you’re still at the tower and know the location of your lost item, inform a reception team member or the Information desk in the west pillar on the esplanade. After your visit, visit our “Lost Property” service for assistance.

Photography, Safety, and Accessibility

Capture stunning views safely! The Eiffel Tower offers breathtaking views of Paris, but please refrain from extending your smartphone or camera over railings and through gates to take pictures. This is extremely dangerous and could lead to your device falling and endangering others.

For those with a fear of heights: The Eiffel Tower offers spectacular views, but the climb to the top can be challenging for those with acrophobia. We recommend purchasing tickets with access to the second floor, which provides a thrilling view and includes visits to the first and second floors.

Plan ahead for a memorable experience! We hope these tips help you enjoy a safe and unforgettable visit to the Eiffel Tower. For more information, please review our visit regulations and FAQs.
