Imagine dining on delectable French cuisine while gazing at the dazzling cityscape of Paris. This is the experience that awaits you at the 58 Tour Eiffel, a chic brasserie perched high above the City of Lights. This restaurant, located on the first floor of the iconic Eiffel Tower, boasts a rich history and offers a unique dining experience.
A Culinary History: From Four to One
The story of the Eiffel Tower’s restaurants is an intriguing one. When the tower first opened in 1889, four restaurants graced the first floor, their kitchens powered by gas lighting. However, for the 1937 International Exposition, these restaurants were demolished, leaving only two. During the 1980s, during major renovations, these two were redesigned and renamed La Belle France and Le Parisien. These restaurants became renowned Parisian establishments, offering exquisite dining experiences.
In a further evolution, the two remaining restaurants merged to form Altitude 95, a grand brasserie with a hot air balloon theme, designed by Slavik and Loup. The name itself, “Altitude 95”, reflected its location, 95 meters above sea level.
Yet another transformation occurred in 2009 when Altitude 95 underwent a complete renovation, emerging with a chic new style and the name “58 Tour Eiffel.” Renowned interior designer Patrick Jouin, who also designed the Jules Verne restaurant, crafted the restaurant’s contemporary decor.
Lunch with a Parisian Flair: Picnic Style Delights
The 58 Tour Eiffel offers a delightful picnic-style lunch experience, where you can savor a selection of French dishes served in a stylish basket. The non-stop service runs from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, with the last orders for main courses taken at 3:45 pm. This unique dining experience allows you to enjoy the ambiance of the tower while indulging in delicious cuisine.
The picnic-style lunch menu features two or three course options. You can choose from a variety of tempting dishes, including Caesar salad with parmesan and caper berry starter, seared bonito tuna, mashed potatoes and sauce vierge, roasted poultry risotto and cream of mushrooms, and desserts like the Crousti Eiffel cake with praline and chocolate. A dedicated children’s menu is also available for those under the age of 12.

The restaurant’s contemporary décor, soft lighting, and minimalist furniture, all designed by Patrick Jouin, create an ambiance of luxurious sophistication. The two evening sittings, at 6:30 pm and 9 pm, allow you to enjoy a romantic dinner with breathtaking views of the city.
The evening menu offers a tantalizing selection of French culinary delights, from seared tiger prawn, avocado, soya and sesame dressing, and duck foie gras, red onions marmalade, honey and balsamic for starters, to seared salmon fillet, carrots and green peas with white butter sauce, and oven roasted leg of lamb, Anna potatoes, artichokes, and real jus for main courses.
