A Journey Through Time: The Evolution of Dining at the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris, has witnessed a fascinating evolution of its dining experiences. From its humble beginnings in 1889 with four restaurants powered by gaslight, the tower’s culinary scene has undergone a series of transformations.

From Four Restaurants to a Chic Brasserie: A Tale of Transformations

In its early days, the Eiffel Tower boasted four restaurants on the first floor, with kitchens situated below, illuminated by the warm glow of gas lighting. However, as the years passed, the culinary landscape of the tower underwent a dramatic change. For the 1937 International Exposition, the original restaurants were demolished, replaced by two. The 1980s saw another renovation, resulting in the birth of La Belle France and Le Parisien, two Parisian gems not to be missed.

Yet, change was in the air once again. These two restaurants merged into a grand brasserie designed by Slavik and Loup, adorned with a whimsical hot air balloon theme. This new establishment, christened Altitude 95, perfectly captured its elevated location 95 meters above sea level.

A New Era: 58 Tour Eiffel Emerges

The brasserie, embracing another transformation, underwent a complete renovation in 2009. Under the masterful touch of Patrick Jouin, the restaurant emerged with a chic new look and a sophisticated new name – 58 Tour Eiffel. Jouin, renowned for his work on the Jules Verne restaurant, injected a touch of elegance and contemporary flair into the space.
