A Parisian Dream: Dining Atop the Eiffel Tower

Feeling a bit smug, we bypassed the massive elevator lines and joined the smaller queue designated for diners at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant. Our mission? An evening of French wine, exquisite cuisine, and romance on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. But, could this iconic setting deliver on its promise? Or would we be stuck with subpar food, cheap wine, and a sea of tourists?

The anticipation was palpable as we entered the restaurant’s exclusive elevator, jostling for the best view of the Parisian skyline. As the doors to the restaurant swung open, a wave of excitement rushed over us. The grand double doors, opening precisely at 6:30 PM, revealed a bustling atmosphere, with guests filling the two levels. Tour groups were strategically placed in a separate area, allowing for more intimate dining experiences for couples and smaller groups.

A Taste of Parisian Elegance

58 Tour Eiffel offers three pre-booked dinner options, ranging from $118 to $165, depending on table location and wine inclusion. We were fortunate to snag a mid-priced table, granting us a breathtaking view of the Trocadéro, just one row back from the window. The restaurant’s ambiance was reminiscent of a sophisticated brasserie, with minimalist furnishings and soft lighting enhancing the stunning cityscape.

A Culinary Tour de Force

The restaurant operates with precision, serving two two-hour seatings per night. Yet, our friendly waiter managed to create an illusion of leisurely dining. As we savored our welcome glass of Champagne, a delectable appetizer of spiced king prawns arrived, adorned with avocado, grapefruit, and edible blossoms. This culinary creation exceeded our expectations, especially considering the restaurant’s tourist-centric location.

The main course, roast herbed guinea fowl breast, was a classic French delight, accompanied by mashed potatoes, green asparagus, and mushroom cream. My husband’s grilled lamb was equally impressive.

Before indulging in the rich chocolate marquise dessert, we took a moment to appreciate the panoramic view, savoring another glass of wine. Afterward, we concluded our evening with a climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
