A Culinary Journey at the Eiffel Tower: 58 Tour Eiffel

The Eiffel Tower, a Parisian icon, has always been a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. But did you know that its history also includes a fascinating evolution of dining experiences? From its humble beginnings in 1889, the Eiffel Tower’s culinary scene has undergone a series of transformations, leading to the chic and modern 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant we see today.

From Four to One: A History of Transformation

Back in 1889, when the Eiffel Tower first graced the Parisian skyline, four restaurants occupied the first floor, each boasting a kitchen powered by gas lighting. This initial setup, however, was short-lived. For the 1937 International Exposition, these four dining establishments were demolished, making way for just two restaurants. As the Eiffel Tower underwent major renovations in the 1980s, these two restaurants received a makeover, and they were renamed La Belle France and Le Parisien. These establishments were quickly considered must-visits for any discerning Parisian foodie.

Further changes came with the merging of these two restaurants into one grand brasserie in 1990. Designed by Slavik and Loup, the brasserie, christened Altitude 95, embraced a hot air balloon theme, perfectly complementing its location 95 meters above sea level.

But the culinary journey didn’t end there. This brasserie underwent another significant makeover in 2009, emerging with a chic new design and a sleek new name: 58 Tour Eiffel. The reimagining of the space was led by Patrick Jouin, the mastermind behind the interior design of the renowned Jules Verne restaurant.

Picnic Style Lunch with a Parisian Flair

The 58 Tour Eiffel offers two distinct dining experiences – a delightful picnic-style lunch and an elegant evening affair.

During the day, a continuous service runs from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, offering chic picnic-style lunches. Order your meal at the counter, where your selection will be presented in a charming basket to be carried to your table, perfectly embodying the picnic vibe. The last orders for main courses are taken at 3:45 pm.

The menu boasts a selection of French culinary delights, designed by renowned chef Alain Soulard. Soulard, who has honed his skills under the esteemed Alain Ducasse at the Jules Verne and other prestigious establishments, specializes in crafting top-quality French cuisine.

Dinner with a View: An Unforgettable Evening

As the sun sets on Paris, the 58 Tour Eiffel transforms into a sophisticated dinner destination.

Patrick Jouin’s modern design, featuring soft lighting and minimalist furniture, creates an atmosphere of luxury while showcasing the breathtaking panoramic views.

With two seating times, 6:30 pm and 9 pm, a booking is essential to secure a table. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a hostess and escorted to your table, ready to enjoy an evening high above the city.

A Culinary Journey for Every Palate

The lunch menu offers flexible options: choose a two-course combination of a starter and main course or main course and dessert, or opt for a three-course indulgence.

The menu features tempting dishes like Caesar salad with parmesan and caper berries, seared bonito tuna with mashed potatoes and sauce vierge, and roasted poultry risotto with cream of mushrooms. For dessert, indulge in the Crousti Eiffel cake with praline and chocolate.

The 58 Tour Eiffel also caters to younger diners, offering a dedicated children’s menu for those under 12.

Fine Dining Experience: Elevate Your Evening

For an extra special occasion, the Service Premier provides an unforgettable dining experience. Available at the 9:00 pm seating, it offers privileged seating in the main dining room, where you can savor a tasting menu that includes an aperitif, starter, two main courses, dessert, mignardises, wine, mineral water, and coffee.

The Service Premier also offers the option of window seating with stunning views of the Trocadero.

A Culinary Destination Not to Be Missed

Whether you choose a casual lunch or an elegant dinner, the 58 Tour Eiffel promises a dining experience that will elevate your Parisian adventure.

Remember, tickets to ascend the Eiffel Tower are required to access the restaurant, even for a booked evening meal. Reservations can be made online through the official Eiffel Tower website.

So, next time you find yourself in the City of Lights, take a moment to savor the unparalleled views and exquisite cuisine that awaits you at the 58 Tour Eiffel. This iconic restaurant offers a dining experience that perfectly blends the elegance of Parisian cuisine with the breathtaking beauty of the Eiffel Tower, making it an essential part of any Parisian adventure.
