Imagine yourself dining high above the City of Lights, with panoramic views of Paris stretching out before you. This is the experience that awaits you at the 58 Tour Eiffel, a chic brasserie nestled on the first floor of the iconic monument.
A History of Transformation
The restaurant’s story is as fascinating as the tower itself. When the Eiffel Tower first opened its doors in 1889, four restaurants graced its first floor, each with kitchens powered by gas lighting. Over the years, the dining scene evolved. The 1937 international exposition saw the four restaurants replaced with two. In the 1980s, these were refurbished, and the Eiffel Tower underwent extensive renovations, culminating in the creation of two new restaurants: La Belle France and Le Parisien. These establishments quickly gained notoriety as must-visit spots in Paris.
But the story doesn’t end there. The two restaurants were merged into a single, grand brasserie called Altitude 95, aptly named for its location 95 meters above sea level. Designed by Slavik and Loup, the brasserie embraced a whimsical hot air balloon theme.
The restaurant continued to evolve. In 2009, it underwent a complete makeover, emerging with a new, sophisticated style and a fresh name: 58 Tour Eiffel. The redesign was masterminded by Patrick Jouin, who also oversaw the interior design of the acclaimed Jules Verne restaurant.
