My Delta flight from start to finish was a pleasant experience. However, a bitter incident marred my journey. When I requested a wheelchair to help me get from the plane to baggage claim in Boston, the attendant told me I had to pay him. I was shocked, as I always assumed this service was free, and I usually tip generously. But he insisted on payment, and I refused, upset by his demand. My daughter, who arrived to pick me up, was also asked to pay, and unfortunately, she did, unsure if this was a new policy. This left a bad taste in my mouth, and I was disappointed by the experience.
A First Class Flight with a Lost Bag
We decided to splurge and fly first class. While the seats were comfortable and roomy, the flight was delayed because the crew arrived late to the airport. This caused a ripple effect, forcing many passengers to miss connecting flights, which was upsetting to see. We also had a frustrating experience with our checked luggage. Out of four bags, one went missing, and the online help from Delta wasn’t helpful. Fortunately, the baggage claim staff were friendly and understanding, but we waited for almost two hours before the lost bag was found. It took even longer to retrieve it as we had to drive back to the airport. The whole experience was stressful, and I’m reconsidering future splurges on first class.
Norse Atlantic: A Nightmare From Start to Finish
Norse Atlantic has earned the dubious distinction of being the worst airline I’ve ever flown with, and I travel frequently. My carry-on duffle bag, which easily fit under the seat, was deemed “not a personal item,” leading to a hefty $125€ charge. My wife’s checked bag added another $125€, making it an expensive inconvenience. But the worst was yet to come. A handicap gentleman was unjustly questioned about his scooter, which he had been given permission to bring on board. After a tense discussion, they eventually realized their mistake, as the scooter wasn’t battery-operated and he had all the necessary paperwork.
This airline charges for everything, even water! You have to purchase snacks, blankets, and even water on an international flight. The cabin was freezing cold, as if they intentionally lowered the temperature to push blanket sales. People were forced to layer up, rummaging through their bags or visiting the bathroom to fill their water bottles. The entire experience was uncomfortable and felt like a deliberate attempt to squeeze every penny out of passengers.
A Boarding Disaster and a Seat Dispute
The boarding process was chaotic and added unnecessary stress. The airline boasts about having reclining seats in economy, but the passenger behind us didn’t understand that concept and aggressively shook our chairs, claiming we were reclining too much. While we immediately alerted the flight attendants to de-escalate the situation, they offered no help. The passenger continued to harass my wife throughout the eight-hour flight. If this is the airline’s business model, they should be better prepared to handle such situations and educate passengers about their policies.
