Imagine strolling past massive lines, feeling a bit smug as you join a smaller queue. You’re about to enjoy a special dining experience at the iconic Eiffel Tower! That’s what we did, and we’re here to tell you if it lived up to the hype.
Dining with a View
My husband and I were excited for an evening of French wine, delicious food, and a romantic setting. But we also worried about overpriced tourist traps with mediocre meals. The Eiffel Tower itself created a buzz of excitement as we ascended to the first floor. It’s impossible not to get caught up in the energy as everyone jostles for a glimpse of Paris!
The grand double doors opened precisely at 6:30pm, revealing a bustling restaurant spread over two levels. Groups were separated from couples, creating a more intimate atmosphere. The restaurant offered three pre-booked dining options, ranging in price based on table location and whether wine was included. We were lucky! Our mid-priced booking ended up having a fantastic view of the Trocadéro, just like the most expensive tables.
A Touch of Elegance
The overall feeling at the restaurant was one of refined elegance against the stunning backdrop of the City of Lights. Simple furniture and soft lighting enhanced the spectacular view. With two seatings per night, the restaurant ran smoothly and efficiently. Our friendly waiter made us feel like we had all the time in the world.
Exceeding Expectations
We savored our welcome glass of Champagne before enjoying our entree: spiced king prawns served with avocado, grapefruit, and edible flowers. The dish surprised us; it was far better than we anticipated from a restaurant known for being a tourist destination. The roasted herbed guinea fowl breast that followed was equally impressive, showcasing traditional French cuisine with mashed potatoes, green asparagus, and mushroom cream. My husband’s grilled lamb was also a hit.
More Than Just a Meal
We enjoyed a break before the rich chocolate marquise for dessert, taking time to soak in the view and sip another glass of wine. The evening culminated with a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower – a truly unforgettable experience.
