A Parisian Dining Experience: Is It Worth The Hype?

Imagine strolling past massive lines, feeling a sense of smug satisfaction as you join a smaller queue. This was the scene at the iconic Eiffel Tower, where my husband and I were eager to enjoy a special evening. Our hearts were set on a night of romantic French wine, delicious food, and breathtaking views.

But we couldn’t help but wonder: would this be a memorable dining experience or a tourist trap filled with mediocre food and rowdy crowds?

Embracing the Parisian Charm

As we stepped into the exclusive elevator, the excitement was palpable. Everyone jostled for the perfect view of the City of Lights, eager to glimpse their dining destination. The anticipation was electrifying, building with each passing second.

When the grand double doors swung open at precisely 6:30 p.m., a wave of excitement washed over us. The restaurant, with its two levels, quickly filled with eager diners. Tour groups were strategically placed in a designated area, leaving the intimate tables for two and four to enjoy a more private setting.

The Parisian Feast: An Elegant Brasserie

The restaurant offered three pre-booked dinner options, ranging in price from $118 to $165. We were fortunate to secure a mid-priced “privileged seating” option that offered a spectacular view of the Trocadéro. While not the most expensive table, it provided a breathtaking panorama of the city. The ambiance was a delightful blend of an elegant brasserie and the mesmerizing backdrop of the City of Lights. Minimalist furnishings and soft lighting enhanced the experience, creating a truly special atmosphere.

A Taste of Paris: Culinary Delights

With two two-hour seatings per night, the restaurant operates with military precision. Despite the organized efficiency, our friendly waiter created the illusion of having all the time in the world.

As we savored our welcome glass of Champagne, our first course arrived: spiced king prawns atop a vibrant medley of avocado, grapefruit, and sweet edible flowers. The dish surpassed our expectations, defying the stereotype of tourist-trap food.

Next came the main course: roasted herbed guinea fowl breast, a quintessentially French dish that was as delicious as it was beautiful. It was served with mashed potatoes, green asparagus, and mushroom cream. My husband’s choice of grilled lamb was equally impressive.

Before indulging in the decadent chocolate marquise for dessert, we enjoyed a moment of respite, relishing the views and another glass of wine. The evening culminated with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, a fitting end to our memorable dining experience.

A Parisian Dining Experience That Delivers

Our evening at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant was a delightful surprise. The food, the service, and the ambiance all exceeded our expectations, proving that this iconic dining experience delivers.

Here’s a quick summary of our impressions:

Location: 10/10 – Dining atop the Eiffel Tower is hard to beat.

Style/Character: 6/10 – While the food and view are exceptional, the décor could be more appealing.

Atmosphere: 8/10 – The atmosphere is lively and romantic, with a touch of excitement.

Value for Money: 8/10 – Given the exchange rate, the value for money is excellent.

Important Note: You can also enjoy a casual picnic-style lunch at the Eiffel Tower without a reservation.
