Feeling a bit smug, we bypassed the massive elevator lines and joined the shorter queue reserved for diners at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant. A romantic evening of French wine, delicious food, and breathtaking views was our goal.
Could this be a culinary paradise, or would we be stuck with bland food, cheap wine, and hordes of tourists? The anticipation was palpable as we approached the iconic wrought-iron structure, the excitement building with each step.
A grand entrance: The restaurant’s exclusive elevator buzzed with energy, everyone eager to catch a glimpse of Paris and their dining destination. The impressive double doors swung open at precisely 6:30 pm, revealing two levels filled with diners. Tour groups were neatly separated, leaving the intimate tables for two and four to enjoy a more personal experience.
A Parisian Table: The Menu and Setting
58 Tour Eiffel offers a selection of pre-booked dinner options, priced from $118 to $165, depending on table location and wine inclusion. Lucky for us, our mid-priced “privileged seating” ended up boasting the same stunning Trocadéro view as the most expensive tables, just one row back from the window. The restaurant’s nighttime ambiance was sophisticated, a blend of elegant brasserie charm and Parisian beauty. Minimalist furnishings and soft lighting enhanced the breathtaking views.
An Evening of Culinary Excellence
With two two-hour seatings per night, 58 Tour Eiffel ran like clockwork. Our friendly waiter, however, created the illusion of leisurely dining, ensuring we felt pampered.
As we sipped our welcome glass of Champagne, a delicious entrée of spiced king prawns arrived, adorned with vibrant avocado, grapefruit, and sweet edible flowers. This dish exceeded expectations, proving that even a tourist restaurant can offer culinary delights.
The roast herbed guinea fowl breast that followed, paired with mashed potato, green asparagus, and mushroom cream, was quintessentially French and equally impressive. My husband’s grilled lamb was equally delicious. A well-timed pause before the rich chocolate marquise for dessert allowed us to savour the view and another glass of wine.
Our evening culminated with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, a perfect ending to a memorable dining experience.
More than Just a Tourist Trap
The food and service surpassed expectations, making 58 Tour Eiffel a truly iconic dining experience. The location is simply unbeatable, offering breathtaking views that are hard to top.
While the décor is minimalist, the food and the view steal the show, creating a vibrant atmosphere that is both lively and romantic. The value for money was excellent, especially considering the exchange rate.
