Imagine a hotel in Paris that whispers “fantasy and poetry,” with a touch of whimsy and a dash of luxury. That’s Hotel Original Paris, my new favorite place to stay in the City of Lights. And the best part? It’s now open after a recent lockdown!
We made a quick family trip to Paris during school break, and I knew I needed a unique and comfortable hotel that wouldn’t break the bank. Hotel Original Paris, nestled in the charming Marias district, caught my eye instantly.
The hotel itself is a captivating sight. Its purple facade and lavender lighting draw you in, promising a stylish and unforgettable experience. Its prime location puts you within walking distance of iconic landmarks like Place de la Bastille, the Marais Quarter, and Place des Vosges. This is where you’ll find chic boutiques, world-class museums, lush parks, and stunning architectural masterpieces. Not to mention the abundance of charming cafes and restaurants!
Forget bland corporate hotels – Hotel Original Paris is a cool, quirky haven. Designed by Stella Cadente, the hotel’s theme of “fantasy and poetry” is evident throughout. Expect elegant design, a playful mix of original features and extravagant materials, and some delightful surprises (one room even boasts a bathtub in the center!).
We booked a triple room but were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a quad room, offering ample space for our family. The clever curtain separating the two twin beds from the king-sized bed allowed me to work undisturbed while the girls slept.
The room itself was a feast for the senses. Imagine lavender walls, a striking black and white striped armchair, a small desk with a red velvet chair, and a built-in black lacquer wardrobe. The beds were supremely comfortable, wrapped in crisp white sheets. My only minor complaint? The plastic liner beneath the fitted sheet made a bit of an awkward sound when moving around. But after learning about Paris’s recent bed bug outbreak, I understand why they took this precaution!
The bathroom was an oasis of luxury. Black and white ceramic tiles, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, and a refreshing rain shower awaited us. But what truly wowed me was the toiletry selection. It felt like stepping into a French Pharmacy, a sensory delight filled with high-end cosmetics and a heavenly aroma. I was introduced to the Uriage eau Thermale brand, and I’m now obsessed with it! The separate toilet was a welcome addition for a family of four.
The hotel also boasts a wellness area with a sauna and massage options. We enjoyed a relaxing sauna session after a day of exploring Paris, a perfect way to unwind before heading out for dinner. The sauna is kept impeccably clean, comfortably fits several people, and features the same luxurious Uriage eau Thermale amenities.
The staff at Hotel Original Paris is incredibly attentive and welcoming. Their genuine warmth and helpfulness made our stay even more special. They’re a wealth of knowledge about local attractions and were happy to share their favorite hidden gems. We loved their recommendation for a cat cafe!
Breakfast, served from 7:00 to 11:00, is a delightful spread. You’ll find everything you need for a satisfying morning meal: a hot drink, viennoiseries, bread, yogurt, orange juice, cereal, and fresh fruit. In the evenings, the hotel’s intimate lounge beckons with a selection of drinks, perfect for a relaxing end to the day.
Hotel Original Paris excels in the little details. Free Wi-Fi that works flawlessly, coffee and tea available throughout the day, and a selection of quality newspapers (including my favorite, the New York Times) add to the overall charm. The hotel somehow managed to maintain a perfect temperature, a feat I rarely experience. Even the air conditioning, perfect for those hot summer days, was a welcome addition.
The #BestReceptionTeamEver (Fabien, Angela, and Charles) were a joy to interact with. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Their recommendations for local activities were invaluable, especially their suggestion for a cat cafe.
Hotel Original Paris is a true gem. It’s a small, quirky boutique hotel perfectly situated between two vibrant districts in Paris. It’s beautifully designed, impeccably maintained, and offers exceptional service. The price point is reasonable, and the overall experience is truly unforgettable.
I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Original Paris for anyone seeking a unique and charming stay in the City of Lights. You’ll be captivated by the atmosphere, enchanted by the design, and utterly charmed by the friendly staff. This is my new go-to spot for a Parisian adventure.
