Looking for a hotel with a great location in Paris? The Novotel Tour Eiffel is a solid choice for families, offering a convenient spot near the iconic Eiffel Tower and a welcome swimming pool for kids. While the hotel might need a little refresh, its strengths lie in its location, views, and accessibility.
Location, Location, Location!
Forget about battling Parisian traffic! The Novotel Tour Eiffel sits right on the Seine riverbank, within a 20-minute walk of the Eiffel Tower. You can even stroll across the nearby bridge to the Île aux Cygnes, a man-made island with a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Film buffs will appreciate the bridge’s appearance in the movie “Inception.” With two metro stations within a 10-minute walk, exploring the rest of Paris is a breeze.
Rooms with a View (and a Few Quirks)
We opted for a standard room, but thanks to my platinum status in the Accor Hotels loyalty program, we were upgraded to a superior family room. Although the size of the room was suitable for a family of four, the extra space came with a twist. The extra room between the hallway and bedroom could have been a bit cramped for two kids, especially with only one sofa bed.
The room itself was spacious and offered a fantastic view of the Seine and La Défense from the 22nd floor. While the room showcased a few signs of its age, it had a charming retro feel thanks to the rounded windows. The large, comfortable double bed and the well-equipped bathroom, complete with a shower unit and bathtub, made for a comfortable stay. However, the leaky shower door was a major issue, leading to water damage on the carpet.
Amenities: From Swimming Pool to Wi-Fi Woes
The hotel boasts a small indoor pool, perfect for a quick dip, but it also shows signs of wear and tear. The cafe and Japanese restaurant offer a variety of dining options, and the bar with its limited food menu provides a comfortable spot to relax.
One of the main drawbacks of the hotel is the lack of free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. While you can access the internet for free in the lobby using a code, the signal reached our room on the 22nd floor. However, the paid wired access and the constant occupancy of the lobby computers make the hotel’s internet policy a bit outdated.
A Final Word on the Novotel Tour Eiffel
Despite a few drawbacks, the Novotel Tour Eiffel offers excellent value for money, especially for families visiting Paris. Its fantastic location, stunning views, and convenient amenities, including the swimming pool, make it a comfortable and enjoyable base for exploring the city. However, the outdated internet policy and the need for a hotel-wide refurbishment are important points to consider before booking.
Ultimately, if you’re looking for a well-located hotel with a touch of charm and an affordable price tag, the Novotel Tour Eiffel is a great choice.
