A Restaurant with a View: The 58 Tour Eiffel

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, and it’s home to a variety of restaurants that offer stunning views of Paris. One of these restaurants, the 58 Tour Eiffel, has a fascinating history and provides a unique dining experience.

A History of Transformation

The Eiffel Tower has seen numerous changes to its restaurants since it first opened in 1889. Originally, four restaurants were located on the first floor, each with its own kitchen powered by gas lighting. However, for the 1937 International Exposition, these restaurants were demolished and replaced with just two. Fast forward to the 1980s, and these were revamped yet again and named La Belle France and Le Parisien.

The Eiffel Tower’s restaurant scene continued to evolve. In the 1990s, the two restaurants merged into a single, larger brasserie, aptly named Altitude 95, due to its location 95 meters above sea level. This brasserie was designed by Slavik and Loup and featured a whimsical hot air balloon theme.

A Chic and Modern Brasserie

The restaurant underwent a major renovation in 2009 and emerged with a contemporary design and a new name: 58 Tour Eiffel. This chic brasserie was designed by Patrick Jouin, who also designed the interior of the Jules Verne restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower.

The 58 Tour Eiffel boasts an elegant atmosphere with soft lighting and minimalist furniture, designed to highlight the breathtaking views of Paris. The restaurant’s culinary offerings are equally impressive, led by Chef Alain Soulard, who has worked with renowned chef Alain Ducasse at the Jules Verne and other establishments.

Dining Options to Suit Every Taste

During the day, the 58 Tour Eiffel offers a charming picnic-style lunch experience. Guests can choose from a variety of dishes, including Caesar salad, seared bonito tuna, and roasted poultry risotto. The last order for main courses is at 3:45 pm, and all meals are served at the counter in baskets for a unique touch.

For a more formal dining experience, the 58 Tour Eiffel offers two different evening sittings at 6:30 pm and 9 pm. The evening menu features classic French cuisine with a modern twist, such as seared tiger prawn, duck foie gras, and seared salmon fillet.

For those seeking a truly special occasion, the Service Premier option is available at the 9 pm sitting. This exclusive experience includes a tasting menu, privileged seating in the main dining room, and the option of window seating with panoramic views of the Trocadero. The tasting menu features an aperitif, starter, two main courses, dessert, mignardises, wine, mineral water, and coffee.

A Parisian Dining Experience

The 58 Tour Eiffel offers a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience. From its stunning views to its delicious cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit for any foodie visiting Paris. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for evening meals, and can be made online at the official Eiffel Tower website.
