The Eiffel Tower is getting a makeover, and not just on the outside! Starting in 2019, this iconic landmark is completely transforming its food offerings, promising a delicious journey for every palate. From Michelin-starred dining to quick bites, the Eiffel Tower is embracing its culinary potential, making every visit an extraordinary experience.
Elevating the Culinary Experience
The Eiffel Tower is constantly evolving to offer its 6 million annual visitors an unforgettable experience. After enhancing the surrounding grounds and gardens in 2018, the Tower is now focusing on reinventing its culinary landscape. This ambitious project, highlighting Parisian and French gastronomy, is a key element in providing visitors with the best possible experience.
A New Era of Culinary Excellence
The food offerings have been completely redesigned, led by the new concessionaire Umanis. A dream team of Michelin-starred chefs, Frédéric Anton (3 stars) and Thierry Marx (2 stars), is bringing their culinary expertise to the Tower, creating a major transformation. The changes encompass every aspect: the architecture of the venues, the culinary and commercial offerings, and the environmental and social approach.
The Jules Verne: A Parisian Culinary Gem
The Jules Verne restaurant, a prominent figure in French gastronomy, is reopening its doors in the summer of 2019 under the leadership of Frédéric Anton, a renowned three-star chef. His ambition is to establish the restaurant as the ultimate Parisian culinary destination. This ambitious goal begins with a reimagined entrance and a private elevator ride to the restaurant on the second floor.
A New Chapter for the Jules Verne
Upon arrival, visitors will be greeted by a stunning new interior designed by the acclaimed architect Aline Asmar d’Amman. Chef Anton’s new Jules Verne offers a refined menu featuring classic French dishes with a modern twist, along with exciting new additions like breakfast, private lounge dining, and even culinary experiences in the kitchen.
A Parisian Bistro Experience: The Brasserie
On the first floor, the Brasserie, formerly known as 58 Tour Eiffel, is being transformed under the guidance of two-starred Chef Thierry Marx. Before undergoing a complete renovation from September 2019 to February 2020, the Brasserie will be offering new menus created by Chef Marx for lunch and dinner, beginning on March 13th.
A Contemporary Brasserie Experience
The reimagined Brasserie, a two-level architectural project led by Ramy Fischler and Nicola Delon, will be a masterpiece. The design features open spaces, island seating, and unobstructed views, showcasing the Eiffel Tower’s iconic structure. Chef Marx’s vision for the Brasserie is to create a universal dining experience that embodies Parisian bistro culture with a focus on simple, high-quality ingredients. The Brasserie will also embrace environmental and social responsibility by using locally sourced products and minimizing waste.
Delicious Delights: The Eiffel Tower’s Take-Away Offerings
From the ground floor to the top, the Eiffel Tower is bringing delicious and innovative take-away options to its visitors. Starting in April 2019, various sales and tasting points will be established throughout the Tower.
A Taste of Paris: On-the-Go Options
On the Esplanade, visitors will discover the Eiffel Tower cones, both sweet and savory, perfect for a quick bite on the go. Food tricycles will also offer seasonal snacks, such as Parisian hot dogs, detox bars, soups, ice cream, and sweets. Ordering is a breeze thanks to the “bees” on the Esplanade, where you can order pancakes or waffles, pay, and have them delivered to you.
A Bistro-Style Take-Away: The Eiffel Tower Bistro
On the first floor, the old buffet is being transformed into a traditional Parisian bistro. Beginning in December 2019, the Eiffel Tower Bistro will offer take-away sandwiches created by Chef Thierry Marx during the day, followed by sit-down dinners in the evening featuring local dishes.
A Culinary Journey: The Eiffel Tower’s Comptoir Stands
On the second floor, comptoir stands offer exclusive and colorful take-away dishes, including mini sandwiches, pastries, and original creations from the Guilde des artisans, a network of Parisian and Ile-de-France food artisans.
A Timeless Experience: The Champagne Bar
At the top of the Eiffel Tower, the Champagne Bar is getting an upgrade this spring. Designed as a capsule between earth and sky, this bar will offer champagne and French caviar, providing a one-of-a-kind experience at 905 feet above the ground.
A Collaboration of Culinary Excellence
The new food and beverage concession at the Eiffel Tower is a joint venture, led by Sodexo in partnership with three key players: starred chef Frédéric Anton for the Jules Verne, starred chef Thierry Marx for the Brasserie, and Ubudu, a specialist in visitor flow management.
A Celebration of Local Craftsmanship: The Guilde des artisans
Sodexo Sports and Loisirs has created the Guilde des artisans (“Guild of Craftsmen”), a network of Parisian and Ile-de-France food artisans selected for their exceptional skills and eco-responsible commitment. Their locally sourced and seasonal products are chosen by a jury chaired by Chef Thierry Marx and are offered to the Tower’s six million annual visitors. This initiative aims to showcase the best of local craftsmanship and to contribute economically and socially to the broader community.
