A Towering Adventure: Exploring the Eiffel Tower

Get ready to be captivated by the iconic Eiffel Tower! This engineering marvel offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into Parisian history. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, the Eiffel Tower is a must-see.

A Touch of Anxiety

We embarked on a journey to the Eiffel Tower on a sunny Saturday in August. Our plan was to ascend to the summit, but a touch of anxiety got the better of my husband. After climbing two sets of stairs, he felt overwhelmed by the height and decided to head back down. Unfortunately, despite our request made within minutes of purchasing tickets, a refund was not possible. While this was a bit disappointing, we learned a valuable lesson: be prepared for unexpected changes in plans.

A Scenic Ascent

To maximize our experience, we decided to take the lift to the top. Instead of going straight up, we opted for a more gradual ascent, stopping at the first level to soak in the atmosphere. The vibe was electric, with music playing and friendly conversations swirling around us. We took a moment to relax, enjoy a snack, and use the restroom. The views from the first level were already impressive, but we knew the best was yet to come. As we climbed the stairs to the second level, we couldn’t help but notice the chill in the air – it was a good reminder to pack a sweater for the top! The sunset view from the second floor was absolutely breathtaking, and as the sun dipped below the horizon, the tower twinkled with lights, creating a truly magical sight.

Planning Your Visit

To avoid long queues, we booked our tickets in advance for the second floor, and even with a peak time booking, we were able to access the tower just 20 minutes after our scheduled entry. Just a small tip: bring a euro or two for the binoculars, as they provide an even closer look at the sprawling city below.

Eiffel Tower at Night

The Eiffel Tower is truly impressive at any time of day, but it’s truly magical at night. We learned that the tower closes later on Fridays, so be sure to check the closing times before you visit. The metro is a reliable option for getting around the city, even when the RER A shuts down.

A Must-See for First-Timers

For first-time visitors to Paris, climbing the Eiffel Tower is an absolute must. To truly immerse yourself in the experience, consider taking a guided tour. You’ll not only be rewarded with breathtaking views but also gain fascinating insights into the history and engineering marvel behind this iconic structure.
