The Eiffel Tower, a Parisian icon, beckons visitors with its mesmerizing beauty. But what about its dining experience? Does it live up to the grandeur of its surroundings? Join us as we embark on a culinary adventure at the famed 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant.
A Dash of Smugness and a Glimpse of Paris
We couldn’t help but feel a hint of satisfaction as we bypassed the seemingly endless lines for the elevator and joined the exclusive queue for diners at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant. A romantic evening of French wine, delectable cuisine, and breathtaking views was our goal. But would we find culinary bliss or a tourist trap filled with overpriced mediocrity?
Excitement and Anticipation
As we ascended the iconic wrought iron structure, the anticipation was palpable. Everyone jostled for position in the exclusive elevator, eager to catch a glimpse of the City of Lights and the restaurant’s breathtaking setting. The grand double doors, opening at precisely 6:30 pm, ushered us into a world of elegance and sophistication. Within moments, we were seated across the restaurant’s two levels, with tour groups relegated to a separate area, leaving intimate tables for couples and small groups to enjoy their dining experience.
A View to Savor
The restaurant offered three pre-booked dinner options, ranging from $118 to $165, depending on the table location and wine pairings. Luckily, our “privileged seating in the main room” booking provided us with the same stunning view of the Trocadéro as the most expensive tables, just a row back from the window. The atmosphere was a harmonious blend of Parisian chic and culinary delight. Minimalist furnishings and soft lighting enhanced the experience, allowing the breathtaking cityscape to take center stage.
Dining with Military Precision and a Touch of Charm
Despite the two two-hour seatings per night, our friendly waiter managed to convey the illusion of leisurely dining, making us feel like the only guests in the room. The evening began with a welcome glass of champagne, setting the stage for a culinary journey.
From Tourist Trap to Culinary Delight
Our initial doubts about the quality of food in a “tourist restaurant” were quickly dispelled with the arrival of our entrée – spiced king prawns served on a vibrant bed of avocado, grapefruit, and sweet edible blooms. The dish was a delightful surprise, exceeding our expectations.
A Taste of French Elegance
The roast herbed guinea fowl breast that followed, accompanied by mashed potato, green asparagus, and mushroom cream, was quintessentially French and equally impressive. My husband’s grilled lamb was equally delicious, further solidifying our belief that this was no ordinary tourist trap.
Sweet Endings and Breathtaking Views
A rich chocolate marquise dessert provided a delightful ending to our culinary journey. The break between courses allowed us to savor the view and enjoy another glass of wine before concluding our evening with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
A Culinary Triumph
58 Tour Eiffel delivers on its promise of a memorable dining experience. The food, service, and breathtaking view exceeded expectations, making it a must-visit for any traveler seeking an unforgettable Parisian dining experience.
