Eiffel Tower Photo Spots: Beyond the Basics
“The Iron Lady” is a must-see in Paris, and everyone wants that iconic Eiffel Tower shot. But did you know there are hidden gems around the city offering stunning views?
This guide is designed to help our photo shoot clients choose their favorite locations. It’s also perfect for couples planning their Eiffel Tower wedding. But even if you’re not booking a professional shoot, this local knowledge can help you make the most of your Parisian photo opportunities.
Trocadéro: The Classic Eiffel Tower View
Trocadéro is often considered the best place to photograph the Eiffel Tower. The Esplanade de Trocadéro offers spectacular panoramic views, and while some renovations are underway, most of the photo spots are still accessible. The goal is to create Paris’s largest garden, a 1.6km green space around the Eiffel Tower, making it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to move around. (Want to learn more about the renovations? Check out The Local for the latest updates.)
Trocadéro: Changes to Be Aware Of
One thing to note: the wall is no longer available for photos. The top of the wall has been modified to prevent people from sitting on it, so those classic “sitting on the wall” photos are a thing of the past. (See the pictures below to get a better idea of the changes.)
Trocadéro: Photo Spots Still Available
During the Olympic Games (and the period leading up to and following the games), some of the main spots around the Eiffel Tower will be off-limits. Be sure to check out the latest news on which spots are accessible for photos.
If you’re looking for alternatives, we have a list of amazing Eiffel Tower photo spots below. And don’t hesitate to ask your photographer to create a personalized itinerary based on the types of photos you’re dreaming of!
Beyond Trocadéro: Discover Hidden Gems
Ready to go beyond the typical tourist spots? Here are some of our favorite hidden gems that offer unique and unforgettable photo opportunities:
Rue de l’Université: Parisian Charm
This quiet street boasts breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. The real star of the show? The beautiful architecture. The classic Haussmanian buildings add a touch of Parisian charm to your photos.
Bir Hakeim Bridge: Inception Vibes
Fans of the movie Inception? You’ll recognize the Bir Hakeim Bridge, which features one of the most spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower. The bridge itself is a stunning backdrop for your photos, with its industrial elegance.
Seine River Cruise: Romantic Reflections
There’s something magical about water, and a Seine River cruise is the perfect way to capture those romantic vibes. There’s a great spot close to the Eiffel Tower that offers gorgeous views and creates a dreamy backdrop for your photos. If water holds special meaning for you as a couple, this location is a must!
Square de la Tour Eiffel: Blooming Beauty
Especially in the warm months, the Square de la Tour Eiffel is a beautiful and romantic spot. The blooming roses add a touch of color and vibrancy to your photos, with shades of red, purple, white, and yellow to complement your outfits.
Rue de la Bourdonnais: Close-Up Majesty
This cute little street is right next to the Eiffel Tower, offering spectacular views due to its proximity to the 1063-foot-tall landmark.
Passerelle Debilly: Love Locks and Views
This pedestrian bridge is within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and the renowned Monsieur Bleu restaurant. You’ll see love locks adorning the bridge, a tradition that adds a touch of romance to your photos. (While we encourage you to express your love, we ask that you please respect the city’s aesthetics and refrain from adding your own locks.)
Rue de la Légion d’Honneur: Classic Parisian Charm
Located a bit further from the Eiffel Tower, near the Café Le Recrutement, this street offers classic Parisian charm with its picturesque buildings. It’s the perfect spot for romantic street photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Pont Alexandre III: Elegant Grandeur
For a truly grand and romantic photo opportunity, head to the Pont Alexandre III. This bridge requires a bit more travel, so we recommend taking public transportation or a taxi/Uber. Its elegant architecture and beautiful golden details make it a perfect spot for romantic photos, with the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop.
The Parisian Café: A Touch of Local Flavor
After all that photo-taking, you’ll be ready for a little break. We recommend stopping by Casé Castel, a charming café located near the Eiffel Tower. Enjoy a delicious cappuccino and relax with a few “piece-of-life” photos. This is a great place to change outfits if you’re doing a multi-hour photo shoot or just enjoy a little Parisian charm.
