Paris is a city that always holds a special place in my heart, but experiencing it during a major sporting event was truly unforgettable. My recent trip, though short, was filled with the city’s irresistible charm and allure, leaving me wanting more.
What a city! This place has something for everyone.
Strolling Through Parisian Charm
Wandering through my favorite arrondissements – the 3rd, 4th, and 6th – was a pure joy. I savored delicious pastries and found myself drawn to the most stylish and inviting cafes and boutiques. These hidden gems, each with its own unique atmosphere, offered a glimpse into the city’s design sensibilities. I was captivated by the spaces, and I couldn’t help but jot down a few interior design ideas for my own home.
A Library of Literary Inspiration
One of my favorite Parisian pastimes is getting lost in a library for hours. This time, I ventured to Cravan Bar in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the heart of Paris’ literary scene. Located in a stunning 17th-century building, the bar is a masterpiece of design, courtesy of Belgian designer Ramy Fischler.
The Rizzoli Library on the second floor captured my attention.
The Magic of Book Decor
Ramy‘s use of books in the design is truly masterful. He effortlessly blends modern charm and cozy luxury to create a space that feels like a welcoming embrace. Red velvet couches hug the walls, and Parquet de Versailles wooden floors complement the bookshelves – both built-in and on wheels – offering a touch of classic elegance.
The Art of Neutral Elegance
The neutral color scheme and clean lines of the library create a sense of spaciousness without compromising intimacy. Angular furniture, coffe tables, and coffered ceilings add a touch of definition, perfectly complementing the building’s architectural charm. The balance between these elements is simply impeccable.
Marble: A Modern Take on a Classic
Paris reignited my love for marble. I was drawn to its presence in bistro tables, ornaments, and even window displays, showcasing its versatility. Marble is no longer limited to kitchens and bathrooms. I plan to incorporate it into accessories, statement lamps, and side tables, adding a touch of Parisian flair to my home.
A Dash of Red and White
This summer, peach was the color trend, but in Paris, I found myself captivated by the timeless elegance of red and white. This classic combination was everywhere – from brasseries to outdoor cafes.
Bar Bisou Paris was a particular highlight.
Parisian Colors: A Symphony of Style
At Bar Bisou Paris, the red and white combination was incredibly chic. A subdued red paired with a warm white created a striking high-contrast scheme that felt both elegant and inviting.
Silver hot air balloons adorned the shop windows of Louis Vuitton, while voluminous light shades graced the walls of my favorite restaurants. These subtle hints of color and reflective finishes created a visually stunning experience, perfectly complementing the traditional allure of Parisian interiors.
Curvaceous Design: A Touch of Drama
From curvaceous couches to ceramic accents, Paris reminded me of the power of fluid shapes to add a touch of drama to a space. Fluid shapes can soften the sharp lines of angular furniture or architectural features such as marble hearths. For a bolder statement, consider incorporating gold and silver accents to bring a touch of sparkle and life to your space.
Modern French Style: A Beautiful Evolution
While I always adore the charm of French provincial style, my trip to Paris reminded me of the captivating beauty of modern French interiors. These designs offer a fresh take on the classic aesthetic, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation for a truly unique look.
