Paris Olympics Spark a Hotel Boom: Madame Rêve vs. TOO Hôtel

The Paris Olympics are generating a frenzy of excitement, and with the world watching, searches for “Paris Travel” have reached record highs. “Best Paris Hotel” and “Where to stay in Paris” are lighting up Google searches, and it’s easy to see why. Paris is bursting with unique hotels, but two stand out: Hôtel Madame Rêve and TOO Hôtel, both part of the same hospitality group, offer a compelling contrast.

Hôtel Madame Rêve: A Parisian Dream in the Heart of the City

Imagine a hidden gem tucked away in the bustling heart of Paris. Hôtel Madame Rêve is just that – a discreet boutique luxury property, housed in the iconic Louvre Post Office in the 1st arrondissement, or central business district. The hotel’s understated entrance belies the grand surprise that awaits inside. Stepping through the small doorway, you’re transported into a lavish 19th-century mansion, complete with an impressive lobby-café-restaurant.

The hotel’s design is a triumph of rich fabrics, gilded walls, and sumptuous seating, creating an atmosphere that invites you to linger over an afternoon wine or cocktails. But the real showstopper is the rooftop terrace, offering unparalleled views of the city. Surrounded by exotic potted plants, it’s a modern oasis, perfect for enjoying a nightcap under the Parisian stars.

Laurent Taïeb, the hotel’s founder, envisioned a place where Parisians and visitors alike could feel truly at home, and he has achieved just that. Madame Rêve seamlessly blends classic Parisian elegance with modern comfort, offering a truly unique experience.

A Glimpse into the Inspiration Behind the Design

Hôtel Madame Rêve is more than just a beautiful hotel; it’s a testament to French craftsmanship and design. Taïeb’s inspiration for the hotel stems from his passion for the history of the Louvre Post Office, a Haussmanian building dating back to 1888. He sought to honor the building’s rich heritage while infusing it with a modern sensibility.

“I wanted to tell this story by drawing on unparalleled French know-how,” Taïeb explains. “From the ground floor, it was necessary to express the language of volumes to rediscover the creative breath of glassmaker Emilie Gallé and cabinetmaker Louis Majorelle. I also wanted to express my fascination with the Viennese Secession by drawing inspiration from Josef Hoffmann for creating the chandeliers… Thus, was born the idea of the grand café with its 8-meter-high ceilings – that are truly reminiscent of the grandeur of historic places.”

Hôtel Madame Rêve is a harmonious blend of past and present, where history meets modern luxury.

The rooms, ranging in size from 300 SF to 861 SF, are a study in elegance, featuring original slanted windows, warm woods, leather details, and an earthen color scheme that evokes a sense of mid-century charm.
