Welcome to the first post in our new series, “Paris on a Budget”! We all know that accommodations can be the biggest budget buster when planning a trip, often even more so than flights. Once you’ve secured your airfare, it’s time to start thinking about where you’ll lay your head in the City of Lights.
This post is an updated version of our previous blog post about budget-friendly hotels in Paris. As you know, Paris hotels have seen a significant price increase due to the surge in tourism since the world reopened. Location and time of year are always major factors that can heavily influence room rates. To help you narrow down your search, we’ve included a map below to highlight the best neighborhoods based on your travel preferences.
Pro Tip: Book your hotel room as soon as you have your dates to snag the best deals. The closer you get to your travel dates, the more likely you are to experience price spikes due to demand. Remember, spring, summer, and fall are all considered peak seasons in Paris, so expect higher prices during these periods.
Paris Hotel Recommendations
We’re excited to share our favorite budget-friendly hotels in Paris with you. Feel free to leave your own recommendations in the comments below so we can spread the love to other travelers!
Boutique Hotels
Maison Mère is a new kid on the block in the world of boutique hotels and it’s the perfect spot for a weekend or longer stay in Paris. The rooms are modern and stylish, the hotel is brand new, and it’s located close to all the major tourist attractions. The balconies overlook a quiet street, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. I recently stayed here and loved it so much that I’m already booked for another visit later this year! The friendly front desk staff is full of local recommendations and they’re happy to store your luggage while you wait for your room.
Hotel Bienvenue is situated in the 9th arrondissement and offers a great option for those looking for a more authentic Parisian experience. Rooms start as low as $100-$200 per night, and there’s even a triple room available for families for $180. The hotel also offers weekly cooking classes on-site, allowing you to learn some culinary secrets from a Parisian chef.
Left Bank Charm
Hotel Monge is located on the Left Bank of Paris, just a short walk from the Latin Quarter. Here you’ll find affordable food and drinks while experiencing the true magic of Paris. The hotel boasts stylish, modern rooms, free breakfast, and complimentary Wi-Fi. You’re within easy walking distance of the Jardin des Plantes, the Panthéon, and the Luxembourg Gardens, providing plenty of opportunities for exploration.
Centrally Located and Instagram-worthy
Hotel Grands Boulevards is a bit pricier than some of the other budget hotels on our list, with rooms starting around $200 per night. However, this 4-star hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, making most of Paris easily walkable. If you’re looking for a stylish, Instagram-friendly hotel, this is the one for you. While I haven’t personally stayed here, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a night or two based on the glowing reviews I’ve heard from friends.
Hidden Gems
Hotel Royal Madeleine is another gem that I discovered during my blog research. It’s located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement and has recently undergone a beautiful remodel. The hotel looks amazing and the price is right at $160-$180 per night. I’ve already recommended it to several friends and I can’t wait to experience it myself.
Affordable Luxury
Adèle and Jules is a hotel that I consistently rave about to readers because it’s simply lovely and offers excellent value for the money. We’ve hosted our Atlas Adventures Paris trips here twice and it’s always been a huge success. The hotel features a variety of room types, some facing a quiet street and others overlooking a peaceful courtyard. Adèle and Jules are actually two identical buildings, making for a charming double-hotel experience. The staff is incredibly helpful with local recommendations and the hotel offers breakfast, tea time, and an honesty bar. Room service is also available for breakfast in your room. Balconies in some rooms offer a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee and admire the city views. The street the hotel is on is a quiet, family-friendly area. While the rooms are a bit pricier than some of the boutique hotels we mentioned, you can still expect to find rates under $200, depending on the time of year. Room 42 is my personal favorite and it’s perfect for couples or friends. The hotel has private bathrooms and some rooms are ideal for solo travelers. There are also adjoining rooms that are perfect for families. All rooms are extremely clean and feature flat-screen TVs for relaxing at the end of a busy day exploring Paris.
Charming and Convenient
Hotel Thérèse is the sister hotel of Adèle and Jules and is another favorite of mine. Tucked away on a quiet street, it’s just a short walk from the Louvre Museum and offers easy access to many of the must-see tourist attractions in Paris. This is a great option for first-time visitors looking for a central location to explore the city. I stayed here once and thoroughly enjoyed the personalized attention from the staff. My room even had a view of the quiet street, providing a peaceful retreat. Hotel Thérèse is also within easy walking distance of the Palais Royal and the Tuileries Gardens.
Perfectly Positioned
Hotel de la Tamise is located in the Louvré-Saint Honoré district in central Paris, on a quiet street overlooking the Tuileries Gardens. This small boutique hotel features 19 rooms, offering options for solo travelers and families. The location can’t be beat, with easy access to the Tuileries, the Louvre, and the Palais Royal. A short stroll across the Seine River will take you to the charming St. Germain des Prés neighborhood.
