Ah, Paris! The city of love, lights, and yes, a plethora of hotels. But how does one choose the perfect accommodation amidst so many options?
A Chic and Historic Retreat
If you’re a lover of vintage French decor, the Millennium Hotel Paris Opera might be your Parisian dream come true. Imagine yourself strolling through a chic lobby, sipping an aperitif, before embarking on a shopping spree at the iconic Galeries Lafayette.
This four-star hotel, nestled on Boulevard Haussmann, offers a prime location. It sits next to charming boutique shops and just a stone’s throw from the renowned Galeries Lafayette, one of the city’s most impressive department stores.
Opera Lovers Rejoice
And for those who adore ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet is just a short walk away. The opulent Opera Garnier (Palais Garnier), with its breathtaking marble and gold interior and grand staircase (made famous by the Phantom of the Opera), is a must-see for any visitor to Paris.
Stepping Back in Time
The moment you step inside the hotel, you’re transported to a bygone era of grace and style. Opened in 1927, the hotel boasts a rich history. The iconic Charles Lindbergh was among its first guests, just after completing his solo flight across the Atlantic.
A Touch of Art Deco Grandeur
The hotel’s lobby exudes an air of sophistication. Art Deco marble, wood, and brass carvings create a stunning backdrop for the luxurious leather furniture. Majestic columns rise towards a magnificent cupola, bathed in the soft glow of a yellow and white glass roof, illuminating a sparkling crystal chandelier. This breathtaking scene truly captivated me!
A Parisian Welcome
While check-in is stated to start at 2:00 pm, my room wasn’t quite ready. While I didn’t mind the wait, I understand that after a long flight, it might not be ideal. However, the multilingual staff were incredibly apologetic and kind. Their efforts, while perhaps not quite as soothing as a complimentary glass of champagne, certainly helped ease the disappointment. After all, you’re in Paris! The excitement of being in the City of Lights somehow makes even a waiting room feel more charming than any similar experience in, say, Detroit.
A Symphony of Art Deco Details
The hotel’s eight floors (163 rooms) are a treasure trove of Art Deco elegance. Hallways lined with elegant narrow tables adorned with gold-edged mirrors and antique paintings of cherubs and clouds create a truly Parisian atmosphere. Even the vintage elevator, a sleek black lacquer masterpiece with etched glass accents, adds to the charm.
A Parisian Oasis
My second-floor room, with its high ceiling and exquisite little crystal chandelier, allowed for plenty of natural light thanks to the tall crank-out windows overlooking a quiet courtyard. While many rooms face the bustling boulevard, I preferred the tranquility of my secluded haven.
The room, though small, was beautifully appointed. French ingenuity ensures that even small spaces are filled with sunlight, style, comfort, and efficiency. The room’s amenities included a desk, an antique upholstered chair with a reading table and magazines, and a comfy bed with lovely linens. A television, in-room coffee and tea maker, robes, hairdryer, air conditioning, and complimentary Wi-Fi ensured a pleasant stay.
A Parisian Bathroom
My bathroom was a perfect embodiment of French bathroom chic. The crisp, black and white tiled space included a marble sink and a slim window that offered a glimpse of that wonderful Parisian light.
Your Parisian Escape Awaits
Room styles range from standard to executive suites, with rates starting around $176 and increasing depending on the season and date. Be sure to check the hotel’s website for special packages, deals, and discounts, or compare rates at Hotels.com.
So, if you dream of experiencing the timeless glamour of Paris, the Millennium Hotel Paris Opera awaits you.
