Imagine this: the sun dips below the horizon, painting the Parisian skyline in hues of orange and pink. You’re sipping a glass of wine, the city lights twinkling below, and the iconic Eiffel Tower standing tall in the distance. This magical scene is just a rooftop bar away in Paris, a city renowned for its cuisine, landmarks, and culture. Let’s explore some of the best places to enjoy elevated dining with breathtaking views.
Sequoia Rooftop: Parisian Charm with a Modern Twist
Nestled atop the Kimpton St. Honore Paris Hotel, Sequoia Rooftop offers a stunning panorama of the Eiffel Tower and Palais Garnier. It’s just a short stroll from the Palais Garnier, making it a convenient choice for a pre-dinner drink or an after-dinner treat.
This laid-back rooftop delights with a selection of appetizers, from beetroot hummus and guacamole to sushi. They also have a curated wine list and an array of cocktails, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the city’s magic. There’s a minimum spending limit of €40 per person, easily achievable with an appetizer and a refreshing drink.
Sequoia Rooftop was a favorite of ours, thanks to its unparalleled views, healthy appetizer options, and tranquil atmosphere. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the more bustling rooftop bars in the city.
L’Oiseau Blanc: Haute Cuisine with a Touch of History
For an extraordinary dining experience, L’Oiseau Blanc is the epitome of Parisian elegance. Located on the top floor of the opulent Peninsula hotel, this 2-star Michelin restaurant offers jaw-dropping views of the Eiffel Tower, thanks to its expansive windows.
Dining at L’Oiseau Blanc is an unforgettable experience. Imagine watching the sunset over the city, with the Eiffel Tower shimmering below. The service is impeccable, as befitting a Michelin-starred restaurant.
We opted for the tasting menu, which was a culinary journey of exquisite flavors. From black truffle carpaccio to turbot, scallops, and butternut tagliatelle, each dish was a masterpiece. The meal was perfectly complemented by a selection of fine wines, making it a true feast for the senses.
L’Oiseau Blanc is undoubtedly the priciest on our list, but it’s worth every penny for foodies and those seeking an unparalleled dining experience in Paris.
The restaurant’s name, L’Oiseau Blanc (The White Bird), has a fascinating history. It was named after a French biplane that attempted the first transatlantic flight between Paris and New York City. The plane mysteriously vanished during its journey, becoming one of aviation’s greatest mysteries. A replica of the plane stands proudly next to the restaurant, allowing you to delve into its history before or after your meal.
Reservations are essential, so book at least several weeks in advance.
Les Ombres: Eiffel Tower Views from a Parisian Icon
Les Ombres takes the crown for best Eiffel Tower views from a restaurant. Nestled atop the Musée du quai Branly, just steps from the Seine and a short walk from the Eiffel Tower, this panoramic terrace offers unparalleled vistas.
The restaurant is enclosed in glass, ensuring every table enjoys a prime view of the iconic landmark. There are also a few outdoor tables, but during the summer heat, the indoor seating is a welcome retreat. We visited in September during a heatwave, and everyone opted for the cool comfort of the indoor tables.
Les Ombres is a fine dining restaurant serving French haute cuisine. We enjoyed a delightful lunch, savoring three meticulously prepared dishes. The food was exceptional, making it a perfect experience, with the Eiffel Tower view stealing the show.
I can only imagine how memorable dinner would be here, with the sunset painting the sky and the Eiffel Tower sparkling with lights.
Georges: A View with a Caveat
Georges, often listed as a must-visit for its Parisian views, is located on the top floor of the Centre Pompidou. Its floor-to-ceiling windows offer a pleasant view of the Eiffel Tower and the city skyline.
However, our experience was less than stellar, and based on other reviews, we’re not alone. The restaurant’s website states that guests should dress “elegantly.” We arrived in a dress and a suit, only to find ourselves seated among people in shorts and tank tops.
The food is expensive and overpriced for the quality, and the service was slow and somewhat arrogant. We’d recommend giving this restaurant a miss. You can get the same view for free by taking the elevators to the top floor of the Centre Pompidou.
Madame Brasserie: Eiffel Tower Elegance with a River View
Located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, Madame Brasserie is an upscale restaurant with a view of the Trocadéro. For the best experience, request a window seat for an unobstructed view of the Seine River and the Trocadéro.
We enjoyed a delightful lunch, choosing three dishes to create a 3-course meal. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious.
Reservations are highly recommended as this is a popular destination on the Eiffel Tower. Your restaurant reservation grants you access to the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. If you want to ascend higher, you’ll need to purchase a separate Eiffel Tower ticket.
Le Jules Verne: Michelin-Starred Dining with Eiffel Tower Panoramas
Perched on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, Le Jules Verne is a Michelin-starred restaurant offering breathtaking views of Paris, especially at sunset. While we were unable to snag a reservation, we highly recommend booking well in advance, at least several months before your trip to Paris, to secure your table at this culinary gem.
These rooftop bars and restaurants offer a unique way to experience the magic of Paris. From laid-back rooftop escapes to Michelin-starred dining, each venue provides an unforgettable perspective of the City of Lights. So raise a glass, soak in the views, and let the Parisian magic work its charm.
