Reaching for the Clouds: TOO Hôtel, Paris

Laurent Taïeb’s latest project, the TOO Hôtel, is not just another hotel. It’s a sky-high experience, nestled between the 17th and 27th floors of one of Jean Nouvel’s Duo towers in Paris’ 13th arrondissement. This four-star gem boasts breathtaking panoramas, unlike any other Parisian establishment.

Imagine waking up to the clouds and a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, and all the iconic Parisian landmarks. The TOO Hôtel offers that dream with its 139 rooms, including 22 suites. And all this at an affordable price, starting at 220 euros per night.

The hotel’s design, a signature of Philippe Starck, is characterized by a bold minimalism. The raw concrete structure of the building is left untouched, creating a striking contrast with the warm and inviting lobby. Step into the hotel’s welcoming atmosphere filled with soft lighting, rich materials, and a sense of tranquility.

The TOO Hôtel is more than just a place to sleep. It’s an experience. On the 17th floor, you’ll find a spa with an outdoor jacuzzi nestled in a lush garden, perfect for watching the sunrise over the Seine. Head up to the 25th floor, and you’ll be greeted by the contemporary TOO Restaurant, housed in a spectacular glass cube with towering ceilings. Admire the monumental artwork by Ara Starck, Philippe’s daughter, as you savor the culinary delights.

Chef Benjamin Six and his talented team create a world-inspired menu, blending flavors and influences. The dishes are a symphony of taste, from the delicate crudo de Saint-Jacques with yuzu jelly and black pepper soy sauce to the rich tempura of lobster with crustacean dashi. And for a sweet ending, pastry maestro Pierre Hermé presents his signature creations, like the irresistible 2000 feuilles and the decadent cheese-cake Suzette.

But the true magic of the TOO Hôtel lies in its sky-high bar, the TOO TacTac Skybar. Located on the top floor, 120 meters above the city, it offers a unique perspective, as if you’re floating among the clouds, like something out of a Hayao Miyazaki film. This bar is a perfect spot for a cocktail under the stars, and like the Bon and Kong restaurants, it’s another successful collaboration between Laurent Taïeb and Philippe Starck.

The TOO Hôtel is a place to escape, relax, and reconnect with the city. Each room, from the cozy 24-square-meter rooms to the spacious suites, is designed for comfort and tranquility. Enjoy stunning panoramic views from the floor-to-ceiling windows, relax in the plush seating, or simply unwind in the luxurious bathrooms.

As Laurent Taïeb aptly says, “The TOO Hôtel is a heavenly escape, making you feel so high that all of Paris belongs to you. Anyone who enjoys the spectacle of the city from this height is transported to a magical adventure. I created this hotel to make people happy.” And he succeeded. From the moment you wake up, pull back the blinds, and gaze upon the city below, you’ll be enchanted by the magic of the TOO Hôtel. Take a moment to savor the silence, a reminder that time slows down when you’re surrounded by such beauty.

The TOO Hôtel is more than just a place to stay; it’s a sanctuary for the senses, a chance to reconnect with yourself and the city. It’s an invitation to experience Paris from a unique and unforgettable perspective.
