Things to Do Around the Eiffel Tower

Beyond the iconic tower itself, the surrounding area offers an array of captivating experiences. Here are some of the best things to do near the Eiffel Tower:

Capture the Eiffel Tower’s Charm

Immortalize the Eiffel Tower’s magnificence with a perfect Parisian souvenir. The Eiffel Tower is so photogenic that even a simple camera can capture its magical aura. Its sheer size means that the tower is visible from numerous vantage points across Paris. We’ve curated a list of the best Eiffel Tower views, complete with a map to pinpoint the locations.

Seek Out the Eiffel Tower’s Chimney

For a unique photo opportunity, hunt down the Eiffel Tower’s chimney, discreetly nestled in the garden. Few visitors notice this chimney located near the west pillar of the tower. Hidden among the greenery, it’s practically invisible during summer, making it a fun treasure hunt!

This chimney dates back to the Eiffel Tower’s construction in 1887. A pipe connected it to the old elevator machinery room situated beneath the south pillar. It was used to vent the smoke produced by the energy powering the elevators.

Embark on a Seine River Cruise

A Seine River cruise is a must-do near the Eiffel Tower! The Seine River pier sits directly beneath the Eiffel Tower, making it the ideal spot to embark on a sightseeing cruise.

Relax on the boat and soak in the breathtaking views of Paris’s iconic landmarks. You can disembark at the other end of the Seine or enjoy a circular tour back to your starting point.

There’s a Seine River experience for every taste and budget:

  • Seine River Cruise, with or without a meal: The most popular choice for tourists
  • The Batobus (hop-on, hop-off boat tour): A more local experience

Except for the Batobus, all options include the option of champagne.

Unwind in Champ de Mars

Escape to a peaceful haven in the heart of Paris at Champ de Mars. This serene patch of grass offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River. It’s a popular spot for picnics on sunny days, and you’ll often find street performers adding a touch of vibrant energy to the atmosphere.

Stroll Through Rue Cler

Immerse yourself in Parisian life at Rue Cler, one of the city’s most charming market streets. Locals flock here to purchase their favorite foods. Most of the street is pedestrian-friendly, offering a delightful selection of specialty food stores, patisseries, cheese specialists, chocolatiers, and charming cafés.

Explore the Paris Sewers

Venture beneath the city’s streets at the Sewer Museum, a unique and fascinating glimpse into the subterranean world of Paris. Explore underground galleries and learn about the history of water in Paris.

Dine with Eiffel Tower Views

Indulge in Parisian cuisine while enjoying stunning Eiffel Tower views at one of the nearby restaurants. We highly recommend Les Ombres, the rooftop restaurant at the Musée du Quai Branly. Les Ombres serves delectable food with impeccable service in a captivating atmosphere with breathtaking views.
