The Eiffel Tower’s Culinary Journey: From Humble Beginnings to Modern Chic

The Eiffel Tower, a Paris icon, has witnessed a fascinating evolution in its culinary scene. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and discover how the restaurant on this majestic structure has transformed over the years.

In 1889, when the Eiffel Tower first opened its doors, four restaurants graced its first floor. Their kitchens, located beneath the dining areas, were powered by gas lighting, adding a touch of vintage charm.

A Culinary Transformation

Time, as they say, marches on, and with it came changes. The 1937 International Exposition brought about a significant shift in the Tower’s culinary landscape. The four restaurants were demolished and replaced with a pair.

These restaurants underwent yet another makeover during the 1980s when the Eiffel Tower underwent extensive renovations. They were christened La Belle France and Le Parisien, becoming must-visit dining spots in the City of Lights.

Altitude 95: A Balloon-Themed Brasserie

But the evolution didn’t stop there. The two restaurants were merged into a large brasserie, designed by Slavik and Loup, with a captivating hot air balloon theme. Aptly named Altitude 95, this brasserie, located 95 meters above sea level, offered a unique dining experience.

The Chic Rebirth: 58 Tour Eiffel

The Eiffel Tower’s culinary journey took a new turn in 2009. The brasserie was completely revamped, embodying a chic new style and a new name: 58 Tour Eiffel. This transformation was orchestrated by renowned designer Patrick Jouin, who also oversaw the interior design of the Jules Verne Restaurant.

A Culinary Symphony: Chef Alain Soulard

The cuisine at 58 Tour Eiffel is a testament to the culinary expertise of Chef Alain Soulard, who has honed his skills working with the legendary Alain Ducasse at Jules Verne and other acclaimed restaurants. Soulard’s passion for crafting top-quality French cuisine shines through in every dish, ensuring a delightful experience for all palates.

Picnic-Style Lunches: A Chic Affair

58 Tour Eiffel offers a delightful picnic-style lunch experience, available from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Order your meal at the counter and receive it in a charming basket to carry to your table. The last order for main courses is at 3:45 PM, ensuring ample time to savor your delightful lunch while enjoying breathtaking views.

Dinner at 58 Tour Eiffel: A Refined Experience

As the sun sets over the City of Lights, 58 Tour Eiffel transforms into an elegant evening dining destination. With two seatings at 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM, this chic brasserie offers a memorable dining experience. Reservations are essential for evening dining.

The brasserie’s contemporary decor, soft lighting, and minimalist furniture, designed by Patrick Jouin, create an atmosphere of luxury while allowing the stunning views to take center stage.

A dedicated children’s menu is available for young diners under 12 years of age.

Evening dining offers a more refined experience. Choose from a range of menu options, starting at €70 per person for a three-course meal with a glass of champagne.
