Welcome to my travelogue! Get ready for an exhilarating journey to the City of Lights, where I experienced the delights and challenges of traveling to a new place, especially when you’re hit with that dreaded “jet lag”.
Arriving in Paris: A Jet-Lagged Encounter
The moment I stepped off the plane in Paris, I knew it was going to be an adventure! Jet lag hit me hard after my long flight, but I couldn’t help but feel excited. Navigating the airport and the subway system felt like a scene straight out of a French film. I was determined to embrace every moment of this “Culinary Tourism” course.
However, the airport greeted me with a personality-minus cab driver who barely uttered a word to me as he dropped me off at the university. The French security guards at the college looked at me as if I had just arrived from another planet! One even followed me to my dorm to make sure I got there safely. I guess my luggage and my exhausted demeanor made me look a bit out of place.
Montmartre: A Magical Encounter
After settling into my dorm and taking a much-needed nap, we embarked on a walking tour of Montmartre, the famous hilltop neighborhood. It was like stepping into a fairytale. Our professor, a seasoned traveler and Parisian connoisseur, led us through the winding streets to the magnificent Basilique du Sacre-Coeur and the charming Square Louise Michel.
A Tourist Trap Turned Treasure
As we approached the square, I realized I had stumbled into a bit of a tourist trap. Souvenir shops and restaurants lined the streets, selling “I love Paris” merchandise and overpriced treats. But, the vibrant energy and the charming setting couldn’t help but charm me.
The Beauty of Square Louise Michel
The Square Louise Michel, a picturesque park, was in full bloom. Tourists and locals alike were enjoying the warm Parisian spring. It was truly a beautiful sight, and I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures to capture the magic.
Views from the Top
Climbing the stairs to the basilica was a real workout. The breathtaking panoramic views of Paris from the top made it all worthwhile. The Basilique du Sacre-Coeur itself is a sight to behold, a symbol of Paris’s rich history and culture.
A Feast for the Senses
Our culinary adventure continued with a delightful dinner at a charming restaurant in the heart of Montmartre. The Au Clarion des Chasseurs Cafe offered a taste of Parisian cuisine, and we enjoyed the beautiful Parisian evening from the outdoor seating.
Paris: A City of Charm and Charm
Our dinner at the Au Clarion des Chasseurs Cafe was a perfect ending to a day filled with exploration and discovery. I was captivated by the cafe culture of Paris, where people take their time to enjoy their food and conversations. It was a reminder to slow down and appreciate the moment.
The Allure of Paris: A City for Everyone
I was absolutely charmed by Paris. It’s a city where history and modernity come together in a beautiful way. I discovered a place where you can indulge in delicious food, lose yourself in art and culture, and soak up the vibrant energy.
I’m so grateful for this experience, and I can’t wait to return someday! I’ll never forget the magic of Paris, the jet lag, the tourist traps, the breathtaking views, the delicious food, and the captivating charm of this incredible city.
