Travel Style: Chic and Comfortable? Absolutely!

Who doesn’t love a stylish travel outfit that’s also comfortable? Traveling can be a stressful experience, but looking and feeling your best can certainly help. I recently returned from Spain and felt so effortlessly chic in my airport attire that I wanted to share it with you. One of you even suggested this topic a few months ago, so I figured, why not?

Let’s face it, finding the right balance between style and comfort is often a struggle. But it doesn’t have to be! Whether you’re hopping on a plane, train, or bus, figuring out what to wear can be a headache. But fret not! I’m here to help you achieve that perfect blend of chicness and comfort, ensuring you arrive at your destination looking and feeling amazing, whether it’s for a vacation or a business trip.

The Perfect Airport Outfit: My Travel Style

This post is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own. I only feature products I genuinely love and personally select. If you purchase through my links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support!

Okay, let’s get down to the details. This is what I wore on my recent trip:

  • Cozy Cashmere: I started with a Maje camel cashmere cardigan adorned with golden buttons (similar to this Gucci cashmere cardigan, though mine is no longer available online). If you’re looking for a similar style, I recommend checking out this Sandro half-zip sweater, which is on my wishlist and looks amazing under a blazer! This sweater is a lifesaver on planes, especially when the air conditioning is blasting. For a slightly dressier option, consider this J.Crew cashmere sweater lady jacket with contrast trim. Cashmere is great for layering under a blazer, offering warmth and compact enough to fold into your tote bag or carry-on luggage.
  • Blazer for Chicness: My go-to for elevating any look is a Sandro double-breasted blazer, a recent addition to my wardrobe that has quickly become a staple. I wear it all the time and always get compliments on it. I sized up to 38 so it fits comfortably over knitwear and turtlenecks during cooler weather.
  • T-shirt for Comfort: For the base layer, I opted for a Sézane Conrad t-shirt. I have a collection of these t-shirts in various colors! For travel, I prefer a T-shirt over a button-down shirt for ultimate comfort. I always pack an extra t-shirt in my tote bag, just in case I need to change at the airport.
  • Wide-Leg Jeans for Style and Comfort: My Massimo Dutti wide-leg high-waist jeans are a few years old, but I still love them! They’re incredibly comfy and fall perfectly over my sneakers. The wide-leg cut looks so chic when paired with a stylish blazer, making them perfect for travel.
  • Practical Tote Bag: My trusty Longchamp Le Pliage tote bag is my travel companion! It’s always packed with essentials I don’t want to put in my carry-on luggage, like my computer. The best part? You can fold it up and tuck it away in your suitcase. I avoid traveling with overly precious bags; this one is both stylish and functional, making it perfect for any journey.
  • Sneakers for Comfort: Sneakers are the ultimate choice for travel, especially for long flights. For a chic look, opt for a pair of white sneakers. There are so many great options out there from brands like Veja, Bobbies Paris, or Sézane. If you want a pop of color, the beautiful turquoise Adidas Gazelle sneakers are a fantastic choice.
  • Wristwatch for a Touch of Glamour: I adore my Gemmyo Prima watch, which has been on my wishlist for a year! It’s the perfect way to add a touch of elegance to any outfit.

Layering: The Secret to Comfort and Style

This outfit was incredibly comfortable, and I felt incredibly stylish at the airport! The key to a perfect travel outfit is that comfort is non-negotiable. Think non-restrictive wide-leg jeans, a T-shirt or an oversized shirt if you prefer, and comfy flat shoes like sneakers or loafers.

Layering is essential for adapting to different climates. I left Amsterdam at 10°C (50°F) and arrived in Seville at 25°C (77°F). You can adjust this outfit based on your destination and mode of transport. For long flights, try a silky matching set like the Sézane Maxence shirt with Georgio trousers. And for cooler temperatures, swap the blazer for a wool blend cashmere coat like this gorgeous Totême oversized wool and cashmere-blend coat.

Et voilà! I hope this guide helps you create a travel wardrobe that’s both stylish and comfortable. Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or recommendations—I’d love to hear from you!
