A Culinary Journey Above the City of Lights: The 58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant

Imagine dining in a chic brasserie, 95 meters above the bustling streets of Paris, with breathtaking views of the city’s iconic landmarks. That’s the experience offered by the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant, located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower.

This restaurant has a rich history, evolving over the years from its humble beginnings in 1889 to its current sophisticated form.

A Culinary History: From Four Restaurants to One Chic Brasserie

The Eiffel Tower originally boasted four restaurants on its first floor, each with its own kitchen powered by gaslight. However, these were demolished for the 1937 international exposition, leaving only two restaurants in their place.

During the 1980s, the Eiffel Tower underwent a major renovation, and the two remaining restaurants were refurbished and renamed La Belle France and Le Parisien. These restaurants quickly gained a reputation as must-visit destinations in the city.

But the evolution didn’t stop there. These two restaurants were later merged into one grand brasserie, designed by Slavik and Loup with a hot air balloon theme. This new establishment, fittingly named Altitude 95, offered a unique dining experience high above the city.

In 2009, the brasserie underwent a complete renovation, adopting a chic new style and a new name: 58 Tour Eiffel. The renowned designer Patrick Jouin, known for his work on the interior of the Jules Verne restaurant, spearheaded this transformation, creating a space that embodies contemporary elegance.

A Lunchtime Picnic with a View: Chic Picnic Style Lunch

The 58 Tour Eiffel offers a unique lunchtime experience that is both sophisticated and casual: a chic picnic-style lunch. From 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, you can enjoy a non-stop service of delectable French cuisine, served in a basket at the counter.

This playful approach allows you to relish your meal while soaking in the stunning panoramic views of the city. You can choose from a variety of dishes, including Caesar salad, parmesan and caper berry starter, seared bonito tuna, mashed potatoes, and sauce vierge, or roasted poultry risotto and cream of mushrooms. Sweet tooths will enjoy desserts like the Crousti Eiffel cake with praline and chocolate. There’s even a dedicated children’s menu for the little ones.

A Romantic Evening Under the Stars: Sophisticated Dining with Breathtaking Views

As the sun sets, the 58 Tour Eiffel transforms into a romantic haven, offering an unforgettable dining experience under the Parisian sky.

For evening dining, reservations are essential, with two seating times available: 6:30 pm and 9 pm. The restaurant’s contemporary décor, soft lighting, and minimalistic furniture, designed by Patrick Jouin, create an ambiance of luxurious intimacy without detracting from the breathtaking views.

The evening menu features classic French cuisine prepared by Chef Alain Soulard, who honed his skills under the renowned Alain Ducasse at the Jules Verne restaurant.

You can indulge in dishes like seared tiger prawn, avocado, soya and sesame dressing, or duck foie gras, red onions marmalade, honey and balsamic for starters. Main courses include delights like seared salmon fillet, carrots and green peas with white butter sauce, or oven roasted leg of lamb, Anna potatoes, artichokes and real jus (juices).

For a truly special occasion, consider the Service Premier, available at the 9 pm seating. This privileged experience includes a tasting menu with an aperitif, starter, two main courses, dessert, mignardises (bite-sized desserts), wine, mineral water, and coffee. You can also request window seating with a view of the Trocadero for an even more unforgettable evening.

A Culinary Experience For All: Delicious Options for Every Taste

Whether you’re seeking a casual lunch with a view or a romantic dinner under the stars, the 58 Tour Eiffel offers something for everyone.

The restaurant caters to different tastes and budgets, with options ranging from the picnic style lunch, starting from €19 per person, to the luxurious Service Premier, at €135 per person. Children’s menus are also available, starting from €19.

However, remember that you need to have purchased a ticket to the Eiffel Tower to access the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant, even for an evening meal with a reservation. Bookings can be made online on the official Eiffel Tower website.

So, if you’re looking for a unique dining experience in Paris, head to the 58 Tour Eiffel. Whether you’re enjoying a casual lunch or a romantic dinner, you’re guaranteed a memorable culinary journey above the City of Lights.
